Online Band

Postby stoliddrummer » Fri Sep 28, 2007 12:54 am

A few years ago, I recall on the Metallica message board, of a few individuals getting together and creating a totally online tribute band. They would record the songs and post them somewhere on the internet for free. I was thinking with the large amount of melodicrock members that are out there, and the large amount of those that are indeed musicians this would be alot of fun. If Andrew didn't object, I think it would be cool to do a Journey tribute, with different singers being able to sing on different songs. Remember, this would all be for fun. In order to particpate though, one would have to access to recording equipment and a decent computer with semi-fast internet connection to upload their tracks. Basically, the drums would either be played played live, or if we have to (less preferable) programmed electronically to match the song, and would have to be played to a metronome. After that, guitars, keys, bass and vocals could be laid down. There are so many good singers and guitar players on this site, I think it would be cool to see what we could conjure up.

Hey there,

If you're looking for keyboards, just let me know! I played with Frontiers (The Journey Tribute band from Virginia), and know all the songs. If you'd like to check out some of my original tunes, go to www.myspace.com/jimrykbost and you'll be able to hear my playing. I also have a professional guitarist who's been talking to me about doing a tribute album. Just let me know.

Hey all! Thanks for the response. I am on vacation right now, but as soon as I get back home I will send both of you a PM. Still looking for a drummer though, otherwise we will have to use programmed drums, and I would like to avoid that. I do play the drums myself in a band, but my recording equip for drums isnt as good as I would like for this project. (Need to purchase some better drum mics)

Yep...the Journey thang could have been cool. As a lead vocalist, I can emulate Steve Perry fairly well. I do not claim to be as good as Arnel or Jeremey Hunsicker (Jeremey mailed me his show with Frontiers on VHS tape and blew me away), but I can hit the notes and pull a respectable Steve Perry. I can also sing the harmonies, just as Brad Delp did for Boston. If any of you guys decide to make a go of this (even if w/o the original thread poster) hit me up.
