I was at this show and wasn't prepared for the acoustic show but damn was it good very good . I love Styx music and it was very refreshing to hear the song so stripped down. The new band is great.

Thanks, NH. There are also some good, HQ videos posted from this show on YouTube.

Looks like those who want to see Dennis on keys, this is your kind of show. Hoping I can catch one at some point. In one of his recent interviews, he seemed to indicate he would definitely do this type of show in the future. I love the long piano solo at the end of DM.

One bone to pick, for me, is, since he does change the song setlist show-to-show, I wish he would take "Roboto" out of the acoustic shows and put in something that works better. I understand why he leaves it in, but it really doesn't work as well in an unplugged show, and it's not as if he doesn't have plenty of other hits to choose from.

Congratulations! You're still the same.

So here is my short review of the show. Denise feel free to add your comments to this.

The set list speaks for itself - The hits, the hits, the hits.

This show is clearly where Dennis is out of his element the most. It's raw, it's not polished like his other shows, the guys often get a bit lost including Dennis,
but it is one of my favorite shows to see Dennis do. The band functions like a band. It's not programmed. It is spontaneous. By changing the arrangements to where Dennis is now playing keys from beginning to end, it keeps everyone on their toes. (When was the last time you heard Dennis mess up the end of Babe?) and there was more interaction between Dennis and the audience.

For all of these reasons, it makes the show work. It is fresh and unpretentious. The songs clearly work at all the levels you have heard before, but this format shows just how solid of songs they are and how they can transcend time.

They need to get a few more of these types of shows down. But my fear is that they will loose what makes them work, that reckless sense of abandon that is the common thread of this show.

For the first time, I heard Greg sing harmonies. Boy he can sing, but he sings the upper end of the register. Higher than Dennis. He needs to blend better with the others, but I'll give him this is probably the first if not the second show singing the songs. The question I have is in regards to Jimmy. Does he have the ability to sing in JY's range? It is clear that Greg can't. If he can, then that will compete the repetoire and open up the entire catalog. Something Styx can't even remotely do with Larry.

you can tell if a song is good or not if it works acoustically...take any beatles song, even the heavier ones, they all work acoustically.....roboto not so much

Fooling yourself and Too much time on my hands are also up.

I really liked Grand Illusion - its back to the album version instead of the duelling guitars and theatrics.

Let's not forget that our buddy night went to a DDY concert and heckled the man mercilessly - so much so that Burtnik was so pissed off he confronted him in the
bathroom. You're a real class act night. Go find something else to do.

Shouldn't you go see a doctor to have you're lips surgically removed from dennis's ass? I think that's a serious medical condition.

Yes it was him. Here is the thread that he started about the incident, unreal:

I saw him and his Mom in the front row, in the middle way before the show started.

I once saw Jy and his wife at a Dennis show in Chicago. They were wearing hats and sunglasses in the row in front of me but I hears Jy speak it was for sure him.....I also wore a newer Styx shirt to a Dennis concert in Toronto. It seems it's okay to say bad things about styx here but when someone says something about Dennis they get attacked. Why can't someone be a Dennis fan and a Styx fan?

Wow, not cool at all. Why go to a show if you don't appreciate the artist? And I don't believe out of the blue Dennis flips him. I'm sure he had good reason. And what's up with his mother booing Dennis? The man is just trying to put on a good concert for his fans.
