Song question

Someone told me that the song Beyond The Clouds which is on Generations was inspired by 9/11 and was originally written by Steve Perry and sold to the band. I told then so not true but they are insisting it's the gospel truth. Anyone know anything on this...? I think this person is smoking something...LOL

I think there's a Steve Augeri interview somewhere that talks about this. Seems I remember some quotes where he says he was at home in Brooklyn and looked thru the smoke from the aftermath, or something like that, and was inspired to write this song.
