Nice topic. Here's my master list, inclusive of Styx.

#1 - David Gilmour / Post Waters Floyd. Greatest guitarist of all time. No rushing - He let's the music breathe. Can't think of how else to describe it.
#2 - Pink Floyd. Their music is timeless and endures, as evidenced by the numerous tribute bands that put on a better show and sell more seats per concert than Styx probably ever did. I've seen the Aussie version live, and just ran into a concert by "Brit Floyd" on cable yesterday.....I had never heard of them - they were incredibly good, and honored the original versions. Stole alot of the Floyd video though.
#3 - Supertramp. Post Hodgson, believe it or not. Love Rick Davies bluesey and piano driven music.
#4 - Eagles. Love their various live renditions.
#5 - Genesis. Just got When In Rome for Christmas, what a great concert DVD.
#6 - Alan Parsons, Alan Parsons Project. Love his music, less the "techno" instrumentals. Some real feeling in the 90's and later efforts. "On Air" probably my favorite, but love the old stuff too.
#6 - Fleetwood Mac / Lindsey Buckingham.
#7 - Steve Winwood. Solo stuff, not Traffic. Don't ask my why.
#8 - Queen. Freddie Mercury was probably greatest showman ever, period. Loved the way he involved the crowd.
#9 - Styx. DDY era. No exceptions. One of the first bands I ever heard. Loved the pompous melodies, and I still believe that DDY, TS, and JY provided among the best harmonies. OK, maybe behind the Eagles, but still. I still remember listening to their music on my walkman - headphone pressed to my ears, loud as I could crank 'em.
The rest: Journey, Kansas, Asia, Yes (hot and cold with them).

Unlike many, I am a bigger fan of well produced, live material by these bands. Purists like the original recordings. I'm not sure why that is. It might be because I have no musical talent whatsoever, and regret never learning the piano, or guitar. I do know what sounds good - I simply can't produce it.

I nearly included Supertramp too, they are hovering just outside the top 10 along with Lone Star ( The British rock band from the 70s not the country band ) Bad Company and Giant...

Ahhh Manfred ..... Davys On The Road Again :)

Been a BIG fan of Asia since the first CD. Followed them ever since. All line-up changes too! Never really cared for any member solo or any other group. But something about them together was magic. In all line ups.
