I love the band, but won't pay a cent for that movie...Tom trying to do rock is about the equivalent of David Hastlehoff. Rock butchering at its finest.

That means nothing. If he were spotted all around Nashville it could mean something.

Love the leather over flannel look with the sleeve length for a normal sized man.

Yes. I've heard nothing but good things about Ross' wife.

So, was it Ross' first wife that got a co-write on Wheel In The Sky?

I didn't like the movie very much and left thinking that it needed younger actors instead of Mr Cruise and I like him very much. Also Alec Baldwin...I really wanted to like him but I just didn't, and felt perhaps they should have gotten younger actors for the roles or someone who could at least sing and was 30 years younger. Catherine Zeta Jones? Come on now. I liked the singer in Rock Star; that guy at the end who took Mark Wahlburg's place in singing with the band. This movie just seemed like a production by an older gentleman who thought it should be about older musicians and it was not very good or much liked by me. I had a sinking feeling in my belly when the woman at the beginning of the movie started singing that it just wasn't going to be very good. She was cute but...holy cow! Maybe it was just for an older crowd who likes older actors or something. Yikes!

I loved the movie...and loved that it was built around this country's newest anthem - Don't Stop Believin'.

It was fun...it had great tunes...it was bombastic just like a show from an 80's band..and I laughed a lot. Thought it had a little dash of sweetness in it, too.

Oh..and it HAMMERED rap!

Funny....Neal wore flannel at the HWOF. too...but never on stage. There is a shot of an embracing Ross and Mary in the Faithfully video taped 30 years ago....(sigh), we were all young, then  .

Yes, it's been revealed WITS originated from a poem by Ross' then wife...Diane Vallory is(was) her name, I believe.

Ditto that ... and LOVE Mary's leather dress.

I just saw the movie and thought it was a blast. Don't understand all the hate. It was a send up ... people seem to be missing that.

It's a parody of the 80s L.A. rock scene, not to be taken seriously. I think most of the music artists understand that. That's why they were having fun with at the Hollywood premiere.
That's also why Lt. Pete Mitchell is the perfect guy to be in it. It's just campy, karaoke fun.

This

Lots of LOL stuff and tons of play on how excessive and ridiculous it all was ... no doubt lots more that industry insiders would catch that I missed.

I thought Cruise did just fine. And Baldwin and Brand singing Cronin's sappy lyrics to each other ... priceless

Yep, my thoughts exactly. If you go to the movie with the mindset that it's just funny, you'll like it. If you go expecting wonderful music and a serious storyline you'll be disappointed. I saw it and had a good time.....

It's a broadway musical turned into a movie. It's a tongue and cheek comedy, not at ALL a serious rock movie. He's an actor not meant to be taken seriously as a rocker.

Linda, if you get a chance ever, see the traveling broadway musical!! Though I enjoyed the movie, the play was SO much funnier! The movie was only loosely based, some characters were changed, and for the pg-13 rating, I think they cut out a lot of the dirty stuff! The musical was just great! I hope to see it again someday !
