Post on the keyboard forum states local So Cal tribute star Dennis Atlas is the new second keyboard player.

I have seen Dennis on FB a lot, a superb keys and vocal talent .

Once he left The Effect I figured this would drop. It just didn't make any sense to me that he would play with TOTO and not the opener, The Effect. Wonder what's going on? As with Sput and X, it was cool to see these guys. Steve M had some big pipes too and helped Joe out.

Seems strange to me. I could kind of understand him leaving The Effect (doing double duty on gig nights looks frightening, all the more so when one of the gigs is Toto). But why would he leave Toto? Or was he asked to leave?

According to a poster on that link Steve left both bands at the same time or was asked to

Yes. He must have ruffled the feathers with Lukather in a big way, seeing that he was out of Toto and Trev's band almost simultaneously.

Obviously there's much more to it than that. Maybe he did pull a 'Byron' and let it all go to his head. "To the guys in Toto, let's make history", I seem to recall Byron writing in the Past to Present liner notes.

From what I recall, his departure from Trev's band was publicly announced before his TOTO departure happened. Maggiora - like all the Dogs - was very talented. Who the hell knows.
