Man, Joe sounds great here. Better than the 40 Tours video, honestly.

Hmm, not for me. English eyes should sting like a bee.

English eyes should rock, here it does not imho. But that's fine, they are still out there playing for us so all is good.

This is one of the best versions I've ever heard. But I understand everyone hears things differently.

Can you elaborate? Not sure how you hear this version not "rocking." This version rocks good and hard to my ears. Is it that Joe "sings" it more than Bobby used to "belt" it? Tempo? Just trying to guess.

Something like that. I've been a fan since mid 80s and I've seen the band live on quite a few occasions since 1988. I loved JW's singing on those first tours after the 2010 reunion, energetic and with lots of "attack". I kind of miss that, not only on this song, but in general. Maybe it's just me.

I think he's singing way better now than 2010 imo.
Poland 2013 remains the best.

On these Jazz Fest clips, he's kicking ass.

Joe Williams has clearly tweaked his singing style a little bit since 2010, for the better. Back then he was still approaching it in a way he himself described as 'screaming', but he has since clearly gone away from that. Moreover, he seems more selective in terms of which insanely high parts he goes for. I think this has done him a world of good, as it protects his voice and actually allows him to do Kimball songs like English Eyes and even Fergie's stuff like Carmen (like he did in 2012) pretty well.
