Will upload more. Great show, same setlist as what we saw in Europe.

Closed with HOTB with Paich coming out for his "swan song".

I hope they aren't done, but man, many hints tonight that this could indeed be the end.

I was just listening to Luke on Eddie Trunk and I also read on FB. Unfortunately there’s been a big lawsuit against the band from
Jeff’s Widow and Luke says it’s not good , the band is on the losing end of the lawsuit. So it’s caused acrimony.

Agreed. At least they are going down as a band of brothers. I would have loved at least one more new Joe album, but oh well. Seeing the band rise from the ashes in 2010 and gradually getting the recognition they deserve has been gratifying as a fan.

was a pretty big fan of Toto up to the Seventh One but then lost touch with their music.
Never knew until a few years back that Paich wrote most of their early hits.

Loved that he is back for the encores, but call me stupid, but what is that final encore HOTB? dont think I ever heard it before but it is a good song.

Couldn't the band just reform under a new name and continue on? This is all pretty sad to hear, but I'm sure we will be seeing new projects, I'm sure Luke will do another solo album at some point.

"Home of the Brave" is on The Seventh One.

I wonder if Paich will be at the last TOTO show in Philly. I hope so.

I'd be genuinely shocked if he appeared anywhere besides an LA gig.

Me too. It would still be nice to have some special guests at the Philly show.

I don't think it will be the last Toto show, nor do I think they'll do anything special (musically, anyway) to acknowledge it as such. Just my prediction.

Lawsuite aside, I think the future of the band depends a lot on Dave's status...they've been touring without him for awhile, but I don't see them launching another big branding/touring initiative without him. But if that gets resolved, I think you'll see them play some shows in 2021 after taking a year or so away and having time to resolve these legal issues.

Info about Dave's health and the future of the band. Looks like a Luke Solo album coming next year also.

Okay, I stand corrected. Nice of David to fly out for it. Although I was half-right: it doesn't look like they made any setlist changes or added anything to the standard show, which I expected given their lifelong fear of mid-tour setlist shakeups.

Oh, the band often shook up the setlist mid-tour - but mainly by dropping a few songs. The best idea was always to go see Toto early on the tour.

From the first few shows of the 2015 tour in May until I saw them in July they had dropped Never Enough, Takin' it Back, Bottom of Your Soul and On the Run from the setlist.

The second (European) leg of the 1986-87 Fahrenheit tour saw We Can Make it Tonight, Stranger in Town, Lea and Fahrenheit dropped from the first leg.

To name but a couple of examples.

That being said, virtually no band shakes up setlists between tours like Toto did. They always brought a fresh setlist and never shied away from the deep album cuts - unlike certain other bands who have literally not changed their setlists in 35+ years (Chicago, REO etc.). I always loved that about them.

Yeah, but I also kind of come from the Springsteen/Dead/Phish/Pearl Jam school of setlisting.

Like, Toto played Nashville on the 40 Tours outing last August, then came back a couple weeks ago, and it was almost exactly the same show, 15 months apart (although, as you said, a couple songs were dropped, although just from the acoustic set, so no big loss). I don't know how they do the same set every night without losing their minds. It was still a good show, of course, but I was kinda surprised so little had changed, especially since they were returning to cities they'd already played on the tour (and thus, presumably playing to some of the same people).

Of course you can't have the entire catalog ready to go at the snap of a finger, but I never really understood why they didn't rehearse 40-50 songs for an anniversary tour like this, and then have those ready to go every night to keep things fresh. I love Toto, but some of their tunes are interchangable in a live setting: play "Dave's Gone Skiing" one night, "Jake" the next, "Girl Goodbye" and "White Sister", etc. I dunno.

Anyway, doesn't really matter now, just something I've thought about over the years. Although at least, by pure coincidence, "Home Of the Brave" turned out to be a great closer if it does end up being their last show.

Either way, it was an epic show. Band members got a chance to speak from the heart to Luke and the fans for all the years. My buddy, his first TOTO show, expected the setlist to be mixed up and for them to play for 4 hours. I told him, "It's not a fucking Phish concert bro."

It must be remembered that Toto are perfectionists, so they are keen to get everything absolutely note perfect each night - and that doesn't go well with frequent setlist changes. Each and every song requires a whole lot of painstaking rehearsing, so no wonder they stopped short of rehearsing 40-50 songs to toss around on a tour. Above all it would have been an absolute nightmare for Steve Porcaro, who would have to do the programming for all that. I think people don't appreciate the amount of keyboard programming that is required even with modern technology, and Toto even toured with two keyboardists.

The Toto 'compromise', I always felt, was to go out with a lengthy setlist (2 hours 15-30 mins) rather than change it around on a nightly basis.
