Well, that didn't end well. First Sam Porcaro left the band, and now the remaining band members have kicked Trevor Lukather out, ostensibly because he was too much of a leader or whatever.

Well, that didn't end well.

I don't think it's going to end well for that band in general. Only my limited opinion - but you have a touring drummer and a circuit singer - the only one with any experience, name cache - not to mention - by extension - the biggest amount of connections to the business, is Trev. No idea what thought process would make this a good idea. Too bad. It really was a killer album, but that whole mess has kind of soured me in relation to going out to see them on tour.

But such a shame tho, I enjoyed the tracks on the record....kid has his dad's chops. I enjoyed his playing and solos. I mean how often do you hear guitar solos from youngsters in music nowadays !

With Trev out of the band, I can be 100% completely honest: I have no interest in this group whatsoever. I didn't even like them opening for TOTO. All the premature talk about ZFG being "the next generation of TOTO" was off-putting.

Yeah - that all seemed like a record company ploy to suck in Toto fans and have a built-in fan base to kick start the band.

Otherwise, musically, I thought the band was tight and the singer had good control and good range. Drummer was ok, nothing amazing. Personally, I liked the bridge they were trying to create between rock music and pop music - but that's me being selfish, wanting to hear some semblance of melodic rock make it's way back into mainstream.

Well, all promotion is good promotion I guess. At least this event sparks a certain attention to their new album.

Trev's been teasing and hyping up his next project, 'Invisible Friends' a lot this week. The clips he's provided have been a bit more raw and harder than what Levara was producing. Will be interested to hear more.
