Luke New Solo Album

Postby r@y » Thu Jan 27, 2022 9:59 am

From Trev's online posts lately seems like Luke is on to his next solo record, working with Joe and Trev co-producing on some tracks.

Seems he also has Simon on drums as well on the record.

Thanks to Trev, we get to know all this info....its a shame Luke decided to go on an online hiatus. Would have been cool to keep fans posted on what he's up to like how he always used to :(

Oh well....just listening to clips posted by Trev, seems like a more rock tone to the record. And the one Simon played on really sounds cool as well. I'm excited either way.

Luke tells me its a bigger production record after the last loose and live one.

If Trev brings his modern production sensibilities to this - it could be stellar. I think CJ did a great job for the band and Luke initially, but after awhile, much like Kevin Shirley with Journey, every album started sounding the same. Looking forward to it - and to hearing Trev's new project.

Any news from Joseph Williams as regards a solo project? I've always been a big fan of his solo stuff, and especially his songwriting (in other words, I didn't really care about the piano ballads records). I think he always manages to come up with some absolute classics on his solo records (Dirty Little War, Givin' Up on You, One Imperfect Heart, This Fall, World Broken), and he's got great ears as a producer. Would love to see him do another record. Another tandem release with Luke would be great.

Luke's new records 'Bridges' out June 16th.

First single 'When I See You Again' releases tomorrow April 12th https://lnk.to/Lukatherpresave

Seems Simon P is playing on it, most tracks co-written with Dave and Joe and Randy Goodrum and Stan Lynch as well. Nice....

Looking forward to it !

Artwork is cool. As the press release says, this is as close to a new TOTO record as fans will get.

Single rocks ! Sonically a thousand times better than his last record, which I wasn't a huge fan of....sounded a little less polished and less slick. This is so much better. No idea who are the players, many are saying its Simon on drums, but I can't say for sure. But all in all, a great driving track, Toto-esque for sure, with Steve P like synths and all...lol.....nice melodick solo (another one missing a lot from the last record)....hopefully the rest of the tracks follow the same vibe.

Killer single. Great mash-up of Luke solo, Tambu, Joe 80's era....love everything about it.

A little more info on the record by Luke :

http://www.stevelukather.com/news-artic ... aspx?ref=/

I can't wait for this one to come out! 2 world class drummers on ALL tracks, Joe all over the record, Paich co-writing a few (which he doesn't do much on Luke's solo work), Randy Goodrum and Luke co-writing again after a long time (almost 10 years).....really looking forward to this one.

2nd single out today.....'Someone'

Shannon on drums, written by the Toto alumni and really has a Toto-esque feel about it, particularly the 'Toto vocals' kind of like the ones in the Bottom of Your Soul harmonies

No overplaying by Luke on this as well, great outro solo

Looking forward to June 16th !

Another winner. New TOTO lineup needs to play this stuff live (I hope).

First single didn't do much for me (but it was by no means bad!), but I really like "Someone". That's a Toto song right there.

I think it's great to see that Luke, Paich and Williams all have their creative juices still flowing. Between them, their solo efforts from the last couple of years constitute a classic Toto album.
