Just (re-)read Guy Pratt's magnificent memoir (which actually dates back to 2007 or so) and there's a passage there recollecting recording with Jeff for Madonna:
"I got called in the next year for 'I'm Breathless', when I finally got to play with the great Jeff Porcaro on drums (he offered me a line at 10 a.m, which was a bit full on, even for me). Pat [Leonard] had said I would be needed 'some time in the next few weeks', then the next day changed that to 'tomorrow'. I was in Miami and had to get a flight at about 4 a.m to be there. Pat joked that the best way to get me to the studio on time seemed to be to have me come 3,000 miles".
It's complimentary in a way, but also not. Obviously Guy Pratt may have been joking (the book is full of funny and slightly exaggerated stories), so maybe it's just that.
For those who don't know, Guy Pratt played bass with Pink Floyd in 1987-90 and 1994, and has also done David Gilmour's solo projects since about 2000. He's also played with Bryan Ferry, Nick Mason (Saucerful of Secrets), Toy Matinee, and a whole bunch of others.
