I remember hearing about this way back when. Completely forgot about that guy almost getting the gig. I also heard Rik Emmett was in the running for it which would have been interesting but wayyyy too many guitars. Not sure how true that one was, just a rumor I heard years ago.

Yea if Rik would have come on board JY was gonna move to the keyboards. Kind of like in 1992 when the Houston Astros acquired Scott Servais and moved Craig Biggo from catcher to second base.

Problem with the Rik rumor is that I saw an interview with him years ago and he was asked about and was a TOTAL trash talking Dick about the possibility of joining Styx. He acted as if it was beneath him. I will never forget reading that.
