First Time See Styx since 2017

So I went to see them play at the Hard Rock Casino in Gary Indiana, it's my first show I've seen since 2017 when they released the Mission. First I was a little dissapointed in the shortened set list, but always the case for these Casino shows, since they want people gambling asap. I think 'To Those" is a great song to open the show with, I think playing a new song to open is a good idea, you got everyones attention when you first come out.

Chuck is playing more, he came out during Lady, also during Gowan's Lost at Sea before Come Sail Away as well. I wish he would just play the entire show.

Also Gowan is back singing Lorelei wish sounds a lot better than JY singing it.

I liked the new songs played except for 'Crash the Crown" I really don't care for that song all that much, would of been better if they played Reverie like they are playing on the extended set shows on this leg.

This was the first time I've seen the live version of Mr. Roboto, I thought it was pretty good. I doubt they ever take it out of the set now, which is really funny I think, it got a good reaction from the crowd. DDY was right all along, people want to hear it.

I don't think JY was taking a step back like others have mentioned. He was doing his thing and played some great solos, he sounded pretty good on Miss America actually, better than the last few times I've seen them.

I do agree than Gowan is taking more of a front and center role on the stage now, he was entertaining like he always is, he plays great and a good show man, he really moves around for a guy that is almost 67.

Tommy sounded good as always, amazing how he keeps his vocals on point and at that range at his age.

Will Evanovich isn't standing in the back as much as I thought, he gets around stage quite a bit, but I didn't notice much to what he added guitar wise. The back ground vocals def sound more full that I remember from last time.

Todd was good as usual.

My only complaints were the short set list, maybe a few songs that were played and biggest was I think Styx needs a better sound engineer, the show was not mixed that good. They were in a great venue for sound, and the drums and bass were too far back in the mix, especially the bass. the guitar solo's by Tommy and JY were way too loud, it needs to be balanced a little better IMO. Also the tempo is kinda draging in a few places, I feel Fooling Yourself really needs to pick it up a little.

Also Styx needs to update their Stage set, it's dated IMO, they have not made any changes since the last time I seen them. They should be touring with a better set up this day and age with all the led stuff available.

Overall I enjoyed the show.

Gald you had fun!

It seems their "2023 world tour" was just a U.S. tour - that still confuses me, I wonder if they truly had plans for a world tour that fizzled out for some reason... hope they come up to Canada next year and I can catch them!
