Styx performing that Dennis DeYoung song (according to Suite) "Renegade". I saw this concert...almost 10yrs ago. Also fun that they play the studio version of "One With Everything" at the end.

It matters to those of us who prefer Styx with Dennis and yes want one last tour.
It matters to those of us who were on the right side of the argument all these years and knew Dennis’s crime in 1999 was to get sick
It matters to us who loved all aspects of Styx not just one subset nor one member.
It matters to us who hated the lies Tommy and JY spread about Styx music by demeaning certain songs we loved.
It matters to those who prefer truth over lies.
It matters to those of us in the Styx community who were friends and enjoyed discussing our favorite group without having to choose sides.
It matters to us that people like you refuse to admit to being fooled by the fooling yourself kings.
Tommy and JY sullied the Styx fan base and Styx reputation by claiming that they hated Mr. Roboto and Dennis’s ballads only to now praise them enthusiastically and make money from playing them in concert. They are hypocrites.
And despite all that would still like to see one last reunion.

As was said by someone else, "Mr. Roboto" back in the 80's was done "live" as the prerecorded album version...So, when they put an arrangement together and performed it live, people liked it so they kept it in. And, it was also in the CycloMedly...which you guys whined and cried about that, too. But, the fact is that BOTH of these songs have been performed since Dennis was fired. You and Dennis are acting like it is the first time they have performed them. Dennis, and you, are just using it as emotional manipulation to try to get people to argue his side. Ahhhhh, poor Dennis has his feelings hurt...don't we all feel soooo bad for him? Those Styx dudes are sooooo mean to him. Give me a break.
In the bigger picture, Styx has moved on from all of that 20yr old stuff. They have a freedom from all of that animosity, anger, jealousy, manipulation, and the toxic environment that went along with it. So, you, and Dennis, should be happy they have found some type of joy in that music...Instead, it is the same old dysfunction, toxicity, arrogance, and emotional manipulation that, IMO, kept Dennis out of the band...and convinced Tommy and the band to wash their hands of Dennis and never speak to him again.

You have still not answered the question because you can't.
If Mr. Roboto was so hated by them why bring it back except for money? The t shirt guy made them do it lol.
If Dennis's ballads ruined the band why play The Best of times and call it brilliant? I thought it was all Barry Manilow or Broadway.
If playing Best of Times once or twice in 25 years constitutes playing the song your are an idiot. They are playing the full songs prominently and according to them "proud to do it" That proof that you heard Best of Times and showing Renegade proves that you are untruthful. They did not play BOT in Iowa or anytime on that tour you are a liar.
Dennis didn't have his feelings hurt he had his musical and personal reputation sullied by hypocrites who make money off his talents. And then gullible pip squeaks like you who repeat their lies.
Why does the current band need to play more than half their set using his songs?
Styx has not moved on not when they keep adding Dennis's hits. They're moving back.
What happened to JY's and Chuck's animosity toward Tommy for quitting Styx?
Dennis brought Tommy back not JY or Chuck. Then Tommy stabbed him in the back.
Animosity, anger, toxicity, and emotional manipulation an are a perfect description of you.

So, Styx plays Dennis' songs. Well, Dennis hired a Tommy clone and played Tommy's songs! All those songs fall under the Styx umbrella so why shouldn't Styx and Dennis play any song from the extensive catalog? I don't know why there is complaining over Styx playing Roboto or BOT for financial reasons when Dennis gets a cut, anyway. Surely y'all have better things to do with your time.
Suite. Please. Your insane arguments are 25 years old and seriously, there just aren't that many people who care anymore. Go to any site on Facebook, such as Styx' official page or any of the fan sites, and you will see lots of people who do not want Dennis back in the band. Go to Ultimate Classic Rock every time they run one of Dennis' whiny interviews and again, commenters want Dennis to stop complaining. Yes, before you get your panties in a twist, there are a few die hards around who love to argue and repeat the same crap over and over, like you, but for the most part-- fans are happy with the status quo. Suite, I'm actually surprised you haven't distracted yourself with yet another interview Dennis just did in which he talked about his autobiography that he's been writing and is close to completing. I'm sure you'll enjoy it when it comes out.

Spoken like a sleazy politician who has done something wrong, stupid or lied and doesn’t want to be called on it they’ll just
say let’s move on or that’s old news. It would not be news at all but for the most recent hypocrisy of Tommy calling BOT a brilliant song and they’re proud to play it . This is current news. Cassie did Tommy and JY denigrate Dennis’s ballads and Mr. Roboto for 20 years? Please answer. You won’t will you.
People don’t care anymore, really, the excerpted Rather interview has over 587,000 views and nearly 3000 comments. Not their full interview that had nowhere near as much. why? Because the title Styx shares comments on Dennis DeYoung is in the title. Go read those comments I have and the fans are overwhelmingly in favor of a reunion.
Most think Dennis got screwed. He did that’s what all this is about getting those on this forum who believed their idols lies to admit it.
And then we can all just move on.
Why shouldn’t Styx play any song from the catalogue? You know why see above the denigration of his songs. Also Dennis can play anything he wants because he never said bad things about their songs. And you know it.

7 of the 13 songs they make money off on this tour were written by Dennis. The majority. They could not have been a success by only playing Tommy and JY’s songs. Never, so don’t fool yourself.
You have never had a moment of reflection about them playing Mr. Roboto The song they said broke up the band and was a disaster to its prog fan base. ‘WE JUST WANT TO ROCK and now The Best of Times. Silence from you because you no answer. Unable as you are to admit being a fool to believe their lies. And lies they were.
You decided that a band firing its lead singer 25 years is nothing. How about their leader, most successful and prolific songwriter and whose voice and songs put Styx on the map. Don't try that ‘’lead singer’’ nonsense around here.
Dennis was fired over money. There were no conflicts at that time. Dennis brought Tommy back in 1995, Dennis no on else could have.
Tommy wanted to dump the Brave New Album album because there wasn’t any money guaranteed without a tour. He needed money. Dennis contacted the record company for one reason and that was to let them know if the album was not completed it was not because of his illness.
They have not considered bringing back Dennis because the minute he began to sing the fans would know what fools the band has been not to have him. And they would never be as excited to see Styx without him. Plus they have no tour without his songs. And most importantly Tommy would no longer be number on that stage and as anyone can see everything now revolves around Tommy.
ChicagoSTYX wrote:And DDY hired some guy to sing Tommy's songs at his concerts. By your standards Journey would need to eliminate almost their entire setlist and Foreigner would stand on stage and smile
Monker wrote:The entire corporation thing is just a bogus argument. If you knew ANYTHING about the business side of things you would KNOW that Styx had to form a new corporate entity after Dennis' lawsuit in order to move on from having him in the band...in fact, it was probably part of the settlement. Chuck not being a part owner of it is between him and JY and Tommy. I'm sure he is an employee of the corporation, just as the Gowan's are, Todd is, and Will. IMO, it is probably due to his health...he may not want to be involved in the business part of the band...and if he died, they would need to form yet another corporate entity. This is simply how most bands work. To invent some weird conspiracy about it is just pure ignorance on your part.
- TMB was formed before Dennis sued. It was formed before they went on tour In 1999.
- They were not obliged to form a new corp. they chose to. Why because they had no intention of allowing Dennis back.
- How do you form a corporation using the Styx name without Dennis’s consent. You just do then dare him to sue. Get it????
- The lawsuit was a result of BTM The lawsuit came AFTER not before BTM!!!!
- They said those malicious things on BTM daring Dennis to sue. Were they acting like there was a chance for his return NO.
- 1999 Tommy never suggested waiting for Dennis to get better to finish the album. This should be obvious by his actions. No tour this year then no album. His way or the highway. If Tommy had suggested they wait till Dennis was better there would have no issues. Dennis would have been thankful.
As for Tommy and BNW, you are just inventing things. I'm not saying there should have never been an album, but to wait until Dennis could commit to a tour. Tommy absolutely was right because the recording of BNW was a mess...obviously Tommy could see the writing on the wall if they continued down the path. Then when the time came to tour, Dennis refused to. Waiting six months after a reunion album is released is not acceptable. So, they replaced him. All Dennis would have had to do was to keep it within the band and the BAND tell the label that they were going to wait on the album because the recording situation was ridiculous and Dennis could not tour anyway. Instead, it was FORCED into being a fiasco...IMO, because Dennis expects to be in control of the band and expects everybody else to bend to his wants and needs. It is a BAND, not a Dennis solo project.
- BNW became a mess after Tommy threatened to stop. They were all working together before his tantrum. Tommy had been in Chicago several times recording with JY and Dennis.
- All writing on the wall was in Tommy's handwriting. He provoked everything. JY did not threaten to stop the album only Tommy sound familiar like 1980 has his threat to quit over First Time. No one else threatened
- Dennis asked and pleaded for more time to heal he did not refuse to tour.
- Keep it within the band, you’re joking. They were the ones who announced Dennis had passed the baton to Tommy and was retiring. This was on their Paradise Theater site their original internet presence. They were lying and you believed them. Answer that one, you won’t.
About how the band splits their revenue. You do not know how that happens....they could be splitting the revenue equally between all owners and employees. The only proof that you do know would be if you can show an official business document that proves it. You (and Dennis) are ASSUMING "everybody else receives a salary." You do not know.
You are running in circles when talking about touring. You say it is about money because they tour(ed) contantly playing venues they would not have to IF DENNIS WERE STILL IN THE BAND. You are CORRECT. If Dennis were in the band, they could play bigger venues and make more money! Even if you include your "salary" theory, they are working harder for the same pay. Saying it is "about the money" makes absolutely ZERO sense...and your own words PROVE IT. IMO, the loss in income is worth taking because they no longer have to put up with a toxic situation with Dennis in the band.
- What toxicity was there before Tommy threatened to stop recording. None they just had success with RTP and the GI tours. Tommy is the toxicity. His way or well you know.
Your whole argument is ridiculous. You want me to comment on things that are 25yrs old, and sometimes even longer, that are simply irrelvavent now.
They are not irrelevant, not to my post, read it again. It's about 53% of their current setlist being Dennis' music. Not 25 years ago today.
People change their attitudes and feelings.
Not you.
They move on from toxic situations.
Tommy created the toxicity by his constant threats.
When there is that space
Tommy created the space
they can allow themselves to look at things differently and change their attitude and feelings. That is just living life.
Not for you. And they changed to line their pockets on the man whose music is more than half their setlist
NEVER changing is being stagnant and NOT living life and THAT is an issue.
Not for you, you are stagnant. Even after you realize their lies and hypocrisy you keep pedaling the same BS. Admitting they lied would mean admitting you were wrong of which you are incapable.
Tommy, JY, and Styx have moved on - which is the healthy thing to do.
They moved on by living in 1999 and ruining Dennis' reputation for money and power.
Dennis, and people like you, have been holding on to circumstances that are over two decades old.
Trolls like you simply repeat lies and live for confrontation.
And, to prove that people can change their views after so much time, here is YOU posting 20yrs ago....Feb 10, 2004
Wrong Troll, my post in 2004 was one of reconciliation to the Styx fans on this forum. The animosity caused by Dennis' replacement destroyed our mutual camaraderie. All the facts and truth's that have come out in these last 20 years have been eye opening to those choose to look.
