Hello everyone, this is my first post on there. I used to post on the old Survivor.com board years ago, before being booted off anyways, but that's a long story...
I thought I'd start off here by asking if any of you would car to rank the Survivor albums in order of favorites. I just received Reach, so I'll hold judgement on it for now and I don't consider Empires a true Survivor record.
Thanks,
1. Caught in the Game - I love the raw guitar riff on this album. Commercial hit or not, it's a classic.
2. Eye of the Tiger - The rest of the album may have have been overlooked but classics such as Silver Girl, Every Since the Worlds Began, Feels Like Love and I'm not that man anymore, more than speak for themselvles. It was the first cassette tape I ever owned and I learned it front to back. Great album.
3. Vital Signs - I favor the Dave era generally, more because it's a more 'rock' type sound, but VS can't be overlooked for the obvious hits and classis. Plus tunes such as Broken Promises really rocked as much as Survivor ever has.
4. Premonition - Great album top to bottom. Summer Nights, Chevy Nights, really captures the late 70's early '80 vibe of the band that draw many of us to them.
5. Survivor - I don't think it's the best Survivor album, but it may contain the best Survivor song. "Nothing Can Shake Me" is Survivor at it's best.
6. Too Hot To Sleep - In places this album does rock and in places it seems a little mailed in. Perhaps the chemistry was missing with Marc and Stephen not on board? Still a much better album that it ever got credit for.
7. When Seconds Count - There is good stuff here. It may be a little to pop for me at that time, but Man Against the World, Backstreet Love affair and In Good Faith, make this a great album to own.
