"New" Survivor not on Rocky Balboa Soundtrack

Postby Slander » Mon Nov 20, 2006 1:09 pm

Hey Folks,

I hate to break the news. Survivor is on the new Rocky Balboa Soundtrack but it's none of the new stuff. Sorry. I'm disappointed too. Here's the link. http://www.amazon.ca/Rocky-Balboa-Best- ... B000ICM5IK

ok, how official is this?

14. No Easy Way Out- John Tepper

I thought it was Robert Tepper? unless he changed his name...
Another thing, the song "take me back" is the lead track of the movie but not on this soundtrack. Plus, the name makes me think of just another "best of" album. I would figure the official soundtrack would be entitled "Rocky Balboa: Original motion picture soundtrack".. who knows.. just a speculation

If this is real then, I wonder if Robin will be on vocals or the same old Bickler and Jamison...

It's posted on Amazon.com. It's not the only place where the new soundtrack is available.

Guys,

3 new songs from the movie are on The Best of Rocky Balboa. The cover of the Best of Rocky Balboa is the movie poster. Survivor didn't make it. It's a shame. Having said that we should be honored that both Eye and Burning Heart Made the cut. Small victories folks.

That's not the Rocky 6 soundtrack, that's just a best of compilation.

Still maybe a littel reason for optimism.

Yes, I see the writing on the wall.
But I'm still waiting for the soundtrack track list....until then I'll just figure new Srvr music wasn't deemed worthy of "The Best Of Rocky."

jopa eye and burning heat are on the best of. I think that's a major accomplishment. By the way I'm going to make people mad, but I think Reach is a weak song.

Agreed, Reach is no Fire Makes Steel.

Dunno if I'm rolling with this rap I'm hearing in the trailer....maybe use that for Dixon's scenes, but Rock should be training to FMS or Reach....

That looks like a compilation to me. It's only on the Canadian Amazon site. It's not at amazon.com. The record label is EMI Canada. Plus, it's called Rocky Balboa "The Best of Rocky". I doubt Stallone is going to re-use all of the songs in the movie. I'm curious to hear the soundtrack though.

Once again. I will say this again. Three new songs from the movie are on the best of Rocky Balboa. Two Rocky Soundtracks are being released in December. There's not going to be a third. We need to get over it. Let it go. I can't wait until the new Survivor album in 2007. By the way the new song "IT'S A FIGHT" is by 3-6 mafia. Those are the guys that won oscar for best song last year. IT's hard for Survivor to compete with that in todays climate. I hate rap but facts are facts.

I was doing some reading around and there are rumors there may not even be a released soundtrack for sale....

Which STILL doesn't tell us one way or other if the Reach material will be in the film.

I'm DEFINATELY apprehensive about him entering the ring to High Hopes by Sinatra....

maybe it'll work when I see the film...I dunno though.

More interesting stuff.

I checked on Amazon and found this item:

http://www.amazon.com/Rocky-Balboa-Best ... F8&s=music

This is a Rocky Balboa The Best of Rocky which is scheduled for release on 12/26/06.

It doesn't have any new Survivor songs on it, but it does have the Three 6 Mafia song "It's a Fight" that is listed as song #1 above.

I simply don't know what to make of this.

Another article on the topic that mentions the new soundtrack but no mention of Survivor.

I am going on the educated assumption now that there will not be any new Survivor on the soundtrack.

Real shame, too.

We're gonna be left to wonder what happened between the time Sullivan announced that "Reach has found a terrific new home, you will be pleasantly surprised" obviously meaning the song(s) made the movie and now.

Okay this was posted today on the aintitcool.com website which for the past two weeks has been running Q & A with Sly Stallone -

10. Hey Sly, I was wondering how you came about getting Survivor to write Eye of the Tiger, one of the greatest movie songs of all time and will we get to hear anything from them in Balboa? Keep up the good work!

Stephen Alexander
Charlotte, NC

No, there will not be any Survivor songs in ROCKY BALBOA, but I’ve been walking around with the phrase, “Eye of the Tiger,” in my head for many years, and eventually wrote it into ROCKY III. They were a new group, and I gave the script to a producing team and label called Scotti Brothers, who owned the group Survivor. They pulled the phrase out of the script and wrote the song. When I first heard it I couldn’t believe my ears - it was too good to be true. I played it for a group of Teamsters and said, “Tell me if I’m crazy - is this great or what?” They said, “We love it.” This is one time when a pig and a poke morphed into a pearl.

So. it appears the so called soundtrack album is more of a Rocky's greatest hits and Survivor will not be heard in the new movie...
