Postby montyollie » Tue Mar 20, 2007 1:42 am

WOW, just read this on the website:

Calender Date:
Survivor will perform live on ABC' S “Dancin' With The Stars” on April 3rd. No plans to dance lol!! but we will be performing
“Eye Of The Tiger” to some 64million viewers.
Tune in and be one of them.

More live dates continue to come in for the year ahead so watch this site or Paradise Artists.com for up to date info.

Lots of your favourite songs and mine added to the set this time around with maybe an unplugged set included also.
The band is fired up and ready to go at it and can't wait for you all to come along for the ride.
Finally I hope you all had a great “St. Patrick's Day” I know I had.
See U all soon
Luv U guys
Robin

Hey red...this sounds just like one of those deals that's all over the place and in four months, after it never happens...we'll have 'insiders' in here telling us how we all made up rumors and it was never supposed to happen...ie...FMS....

EYE lol. Good point. I think there was something that went wrong with Rocky Balboa. Hell Survivor even put a fire makes steel clip on their website. Having said that I'm glad that nothing from Survivor was in Rocky Balboa. It didn't fit the movie.

I totally agree...what that movie did was strip itself down the the basics...more towards the original...and a survivor song or anything else of the 80's would not have fit at all...i did like the movie though...

This is the kind of publicity that the bead REALLY needs... I mean, let's face it Survivor has poor promotion skills (ala REACH). Besides has anyone noticed that they only have a shirt for merchandise on there site now? no hats, nothing. It really does sadden me because when i mention there name either someone says 'eye of the tiger" or "are they even still around anymore?" Ugh... I do wish there were merchandise as well as better promotion.

I agree with you on this one to a point. Let's not forget they are still around. They are do some things right. Have we forgotten THE STARBUCKS COMMERCIAL. Many bands would have killed for that kind of exposure. Let's not forget the I OF THE TIGER is still one of the top tunes downloaded on I-Tunes. I'm looking forward to April 4th. I hate Dancing With The Stars but this is going to be big exposure that a lot of bands of Survivor's genre would kill for.

SurvivorFan in regards to Reach I believe it sold very well for a Frontiers release. I think it was at 30 grand. In comparison Jim Peteriks album I think did like 8k. I'm not even sure that Jimi's Empires did 30k. Any sales figures?

I'm not saying it didn't sell good, i'm just saying publicity could've been better for the album. I mean, remember Jimi saying that "money is in the live shows not the records anymore". Did anyone see any promo swag or anything?

Yeah, if Survivor is going to survive (ha ha) they have to start marketing themselves a little better. I saw that merchandise section too and wondered WTF. You could get a freakin' cafePress store and have more shit for a knitting club you host in your living room.

I think Survivor as it stands right now runs the risk of turning into VH with Gary Cherone. DWTS is a step in the right direction. I personally ADORE that show, and so do a kajillion other people. It gets millions upon millions of viewers every week.

I doubt Reach sold 30K. From what I have heard, a blockbuster on Frontiers only sells @ 10-15K. Generations didn't even do half that for Journey.

I would really be interested in the numbers though. Hey Red13, go on the Noticeboard and ask...someone high up with Frontiers posts there!

Hey There. The 30k was a direct number from Frankie. Take it for what it's worth. It would be nice to be able to get some sales figures from Fronties though. Do they use soundscan?

I also doubt 30K. The cd is not in any of the major chains. And even in spot slike Amazon the cd goes for $26. Only diehards are buyng this cd. I myself wouldn't mind getting a copy but it is not an easy purchase.

Getting on DWTS is a great move, still don't see how it fits a dance show but national exposure is great. but don't expect many copies of Reach to be sold as a results of this show (see above) plus they will be performing EOTT. The Greatest Hits will see a spike in sales. Although I am sure people will be wodering why EOTT sounds different.

RID, I always thought it sounded different when JJ sang Tiger it so why would it be any different when Robin sings it? BtW, you can find used Reach copies on ebay.

I'm not certain it's there anymore. A great place to get REACH IS NEHRECORDS.COM. It's out of Colorado. You can get the cd pretty cheap.

You can also get Robin's "new" versions of Survivor classics at your local Jiffy Lube, participating McDonald's, and in Wheaties boxes (Ned Flanders cover only).

Yep, one of those "believe it when I sees it" posts, however THIS time it's from McCauley so I will extend the benefit of the doubt and tune in for another reason other than to see Heather Mills' pegleg fall off.

If it happens SURPRISINGLY good promo work for the band, finally. Need to capitalize unlike they did with the coffee thing.

Hey General,

Don't laugh but I was wondering if Starbucks would sign Survivor to their label like they did Mccartney. Just a thought.

This is pretty incredible exposure if true. Is that a sign that they are better management?

I watched DWTS last night for a short bit and I still don't see how they are going to fit into this show. There is an orchestra in back that I can see but are they going to be sitting in there? or on the side? are we even going to see them? this is going to be interesting......

I watch that show regularly. The Tuesday night show usually has a guest band that performs while the professional dancers do a show dance. Once they had Barry Manilow, Scissor Sisters... that sort of thing.

I'm *really* looking forward to it!

All joking aside, if McDonald's follwed the Starbuck's business model (as they have begun with the coffee) and Survivor got in...they would be HUGE. People will buy ANYthing from McDonald's..

Anyone watching DWTS tonight? There was a quirky clip with Jimmy Kimmel doing a Tango with some moustachioed guy in a red dress and they were really hamming it up. He kept talking about the "eye of the tiger" and they said they'd be back next week for more. Next week, the contestants are dancing either the Jive or the Tango.

Looks like they are throwing us a bone!! LOL

Actually, now that I think about it, I wonder if Survivor will only be on next week for comic value for the Jimmy Kimmel bit. The musical guest this week is Dionne Warwick. She's singing "Do You Know the Way to San Jose" and that kind of ballroom style music. I can't see them integrating Survivor into that. But who knows.
