It's very sad that Survivor only plays 10 songs

Postby Frank » Wed Aug 08, 2007 7:32 am

I'm thinking of travelling to Germany or Belgium to see the new line-up (I live in the Netherlands), but if they only play 10 songs, like they did during almost every concert in 2007, I won't bother. I think it's very sad when a band only plays 10 songs. I saw them do the same thing several years ago in Temecula, when they were supposed to play 1,5 hours and only played for 1 hour. I hate it when bands only do the absolute minimum of what is expected. In every interview band members tell you that playing live is the best, but when it comes down to it they try to get off stage as fast as they can. Survivor only playing 10 songs is not an incident, because all the setlists I saw during the last few months only contained 10 songs. Very, very sad.

When I saw them on this past July 4th they played 11 songs (I know, that's not much better) but one of them was "Reach" which they now seem to have stopped playing.

10 to 11 songs just isn't enough songs to be playing! I know that a lot of fans didn't like that Sullivan was playing such long solos, but now even with his shorter solos their still not playing more songs. I'm willing to see/hear him play shorter solos if it means more songs, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

It's BS that they seem to barely play more songs when their headlining than when they are the opening bands!

Here are some of the songs that I would like to hear them play live more often, or should I say start playing live in some cases.

Caught In the Game
Hesitation Dance
I'm Not That Man Anymore
Children Of The Night
It Doesn't Have To Be This Way
Slander
Broken Promises
It's The Singer Not The Song
Oceans
Can't Let You Go
She's A Star
Too Hot To Sleep
Rhythm Of The City

If they would play a few of those songs in each show in addition to their current setlist then I would be much happier.

If their looking for a song to drop from the setlist it should be Summer Nights IMO, it's not that I don't like the song, I do, but it's not one of my favorites by them.

I guess Survivor can't cater to every body. and they don't have the financial muscle to go where people do want them come. You make a great point though. But the former reason is probably why.

I agree. Having said that the 10 set list really cooked the other night. Non-stop. No fillers. They just grabbed the audience and didn't let go. It was also the best live version of Tiger I have ever heard. Frankie playing the guitar in the middle of the crowd was a great touch.

Hope they play more than 10 Songs on the Germany Tour. For the most confirmed gigs they have an opening act so I expect definately more than 10 more a main act.
