"Rockin' Into The Night" Who's the singer??

Postby Squidward24 » Tue Aug 28, 2007 4:36 am

A friend dumped 6 Survivor songs onto my iPod, and that was one of them, I've searched for info on this track and can't find any. I know it is on the "Ultimate Survivor" collection, other then that I'm clueless. I'm either not trying hard enough or there just ain't any info out there.

Gracias.

Bickler on lead but it does sound like more Frankie and Peterik harmony than usual.

Thanks. that's the only "rare" type track in that little group of songs he added, the others:

Eye of The Tiger
I Can't Hold Back
High On You
The Search Is Over
Burning Heart
Rockin' Into The Night

Pretty standard best of type fare, but hey it was free.

Rockin' Into The Night is definately an absolute cool track. Especially because it was released 25 years after the band recorded it (the 38 special Version not counted). It let us dream that is more with Dave´s vocals which is not released till now.

It's disappointing that the song wasn't included on album!

Was it the producer who said it doesn´t fit to the album or the record company? Definately a wrong decision.

No question. Wasn't Ron Nevision fired during the production of the band's first album? Why wasn't Rebel Girl on that record?

Ron Knee Vision

Postby crazy mar tay » Thu Sep 06, 2007 3:36 am

Nevison I had heard was fired but not sure if that is true or rumor. Regardless the guy helped produce what 3 more survivor albums??? WSC, Vital Signs and didn't he do Premonition???

I will have to check. Frankie gives Ron and Frank Filipetti (spelling) all the credit it seems on the ultimate cd liner notes and on the Survivor site he's sang there praises. Frankie isn't the guy to toot his own horn but, while Peterik gets all this credit for producing or engineering this or that its really Frankie who was the genius with the sound and producing or co-producing the band NOT JP. Frankie had a HEAVY hand in To Hot To Sleep in 1988 producing and engineering as well as playing etc etc he owned that record and it shows...arguably there best album along with Premonition (they are all good but for me and many fans these 2 stood out the most).

Crazy thanks you so much! You couldn't have said it any better. I've been saying this for years. Frankie doesn't nearly get enough credit for the signature Survivor sound. If only people realized there's more to Frankie than guitar playing.

In the issue of Guitar Player magazine from 1985 that Frankie sullivan was featured in he says that Nevison was fired during the recording of the first Survivor album.

Frankie is a great producer, I've always thought that the WSC, THTS and CITG albums were the best produced Survivor albums, and Frankie co-produced 2 of them and was the soul producer of the other one.

My only complaint about the production of THTS is that theres not enough volume to the CD, you really have to crank-up the volume on your stereo. If you listen to WSC it is a much louder CD, which I like.
