"New" Jimi Jamison Track

Postby Richard Epps » Sat Sep 08, 2007 6:55 am

There is a new Jimi Jamison track here:http://www.myspace.com/jimijamison,it is called Come Dancing, and is in fact an Ides Of March track from 2005.
It certainly isnt AOR but it is a nice track all the same.

Nice track, indeed. Reminds me on "Seconds away" (which is much better).

Nice to see Jimi working. I wonder if this is a collaboration with JJ and JP.

I like the music on the track a lot. Jamo does not sound his best on this. I'm sorry. I felt the same way on REACH. Then again Jamo at 75 percent is still pretty damn good. The track isn't for me. Very Nashville sounding to me. I give Jamo and JP credit for getting something out for the public to hear. Mike Aquino plays guitar on this I do believe if I read Jamo's myspace sight correctly. By the way where the hell are all the Jamo fans. I thought many would be thrilled to hear new work. I want their input!

I honestly would NEVER have guessed that was Jimi if I wasn't told so...

A little too mellow for me, but not bad. Sadly it sounds like "jumping on the bandwagon" to me. Nashville IS where it's at. Today's country is closer to 80's AOR than anything else. And it's about melody and lyrics. A lot of positives. But it takes sincerity....

I won't even listen now that I know it's a ballad.

JoePA, guys...who cares if its a ballad or a rocker as long as its good??!

For me I love Jamo's classic sound and style and what a voice!! But for me. From what I have heard and seen myself he has lost the magic.

This is a BAD song. Was bad when Peterik did it before and its still bad now. Production?? bad. The vibe? Bad. Singing. I love jamo but once again..BAD.

Just because you like someone or love someone's songs, voice, chops doesn't mean it all is good and you gotta call a spade a spade. etc etc This isn't good and I'm being kind.

One man's opinion...I hope this kat has got better singing and songs up his sleeve. Lord knows he's got the track record for awesome singing.

Jamison new song

Postby theforce3 » Tue Sep 18, 2007 9:17 am

I have to say this is a wonderful song with AMAZING lyrics. I believe Jimi is reineventing himself and that is not a bad idea. WE all know he can belt and i actually wasn't a big fan of thier Survior ballads but this one is a hit. I heard Jamo has another JP song that will be on the new cd as well. Can anybody post up some lyrics and give me some direction on how i can find COme Dancin lyrics. Thanks in advance,

Chris glad you like it. I think this Nashville sound is what a lot rock guys are going for. It certainly is how Bon Jovi stayed relevant.

Yes, indeed.

And it worked for Bon Jovi who's known for being heavier than Survivor so who's to say Jamo can't pull this sound off too I guess. Many think of him as a Chicago artist, Survivor being one of the great seminal ChiTown bands, but he "Strictly Memphis" too to quote a great Stones outtake from Dirty Work.

I just want to see Survivor and Jamo WORK, be it together or separately.

I agree with you 100 percent JoePa. You know John Waite was recently on the country chart with Missing You. It was a duet with Allison Krauss.

Wasn't this an Ides Of March song? The lyrics should be somewhere? Does Jimi plan releasing this as a single? Any word?

It was written by JP for The Ideas and recorded. Not released as yet.

Don't plan on seeing this song as a single and maybe it won't even be on the next JJ album ;)

Axecrew how does JJ's version differ from the Ide's version?

Slander 2 things...1 if the clip is Vehicle from that old show in Cleveland,I've seen it and 2 the version Jimi does of Come Dancing is very different from Jim's. It does have a "country" feel to it.where as Jim's has a more.....ballroom dancing type sound. If that makes any sense.
If I'm right I detected a mandolin in Jimi's version,I'll ask them when I see them. Jim's is more keyboard driven where Jimi's is more guitar driven.
Hope that makes sense.

I absolutely love this! I like the mandolin, I like the melody and of course I like JJ's voice. Guy can do no wrong in my books.

Thanks for posting the link!
