Paradise Artist Survivor "Radio Promo" For Live Sh

Postby bulldog » Mon Nov 12, 2007 1:05 am

:x I am very surprised that Frankie Sullivan would allow the use of original recordings for the promos. This is not the band that the fans will be seeing live. Dave Bickler , Jimi Jamison & Jim Peterik should either get royalities or file a lawsuit haha . Lou Gramm isn't allowed to use his voice on original Foreigner tracks for promo's why not Survivor re-record all the hits for promo ads? They have Reach ,Fire makes Steel & Eye Of The Tiger on there.

No problem with Survivor/(Frankie) using the original studio recordings for promo.

The band remains Survivor.

Any live snippets interspersed should be of McCauley singing, though.

This is the way Journey worked it w/ Augeri and JSS, concert commercials would be a mix of studio and live snippets and all the live snippets would be of Augeri or JSS.

No harm, no foul for me.

It´s shocking? Why? If you buy a CD of Survivor today you get it with the vocals of Dave or Jamo. So that´s ok for me. But I would include some live sample´s to show how the bands sounds now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but at one time those three songs on there were all recut with Robin's vocals overlayed on the tracks...I even burned them to my ipod...

Has that changed?

I went to a Jimi show over a year ago and in the promotion on radio they played Bickler singing EOTT! So let's not turn this into a FS thing please!

See, now THAT is weird.

Should've been a snippet of Jamo singing it live.

Bickler? :?

I agree.....it's a "truth in advertising" thing to me....I really like Robin's voice, so feature his vocals on the new stuff, and I feel Jamo should ONLY use his vocal tracks as well...AND, I am one of the few that believe an artist should ONLY sing the songs HE sang on originally....meaning when Jamo sings on his own he should come no where near Tiger....and if Dave was out there I would want to not hear him singing Hi On You, The Search is Over ect....

BOTH were amazing....I just really feel they are to each their own....sing the stuff you made famous, not the stuff another guy made famous....

If they were singing IN SURVIVOR then ALL songs are game...it's a song related to a brand....but, alone, no way....sing your own stuff that YOU ORIGINALLY sang....just because I sang in World Stage for three years doesn't give me the right to sing any Peterik tune I wanted to, nor would I ever want to....but the point stands.....

I would agree with this but don't some promoters might still ask them to? Just wondering.

Meanwhile with regards to Dave singing VS stuff, I personally have no problem with it as VS was written when Dave was still in the band as I gather. Then again, Im Bickler vocals guy cant help it!
