Tall Stories/Frank Fillipetti

See the self-titled debut Tall Stories album from '91 (with Journey's Steve Augeri) has Survivor stalwart producer Frank Fillipetti in the producer's chair?

I knew this thing (particularly with Augeri who sounds Bickleresque) had a gritty Survivor feel.

I know I'm going to get buried here but I always preferred Augeri to Perry! Arrival is a damn classic that would have sold had it had any promotion at all.

You're not alone on the Augeri over Perry preference, Sman.

To me his voice is perry with ballz.

I didn't know of Frank's pedigree but I LOVE the Tall Stories CD and if we could have heard THAT Steve Augeri I think things would have been different in Journey.

The TS CD is solid start to finish and I love the added touch of the street sounds!

Yep, good little record.
Best song, Chains Of Love. 8)

Dave28 a couple of those demos you sent me from the shelved second record sounded really strong.

When were they from?

I will have to see if I have any info but I don't think I did. I wish Steve would get that Tall Stories II CD out so we can compare the demoes to the new record!!

I prefer Perry overall, but I do love Augeri's singing too. Steve Perry's my second favorite singer after only Jimi Jamison, but I can't stand how so many of the Perry loons try to make Perry out to be a singing god and at the same time claim that Augeri sucks.

You would take Jamison over Perry or Augeri present day?

Who do any of you think sounds more similar to Steve Perry between Dave Bickler and Jimi Jamison?

Well, of course Perry, Augeri, and Bickler all sound similar to me (with Augeri being my favorite) and Jamison sounds way different than those other 3 (he being my favorite AOR/Melodic singer.).
Jamo's got more like an Elton John/Jason Scheff vibe.

I just listened to a tune by Tyketto called "Let it go". I like Augeri's vocals.
