Survivor ... Where does Sullivan go from here ?

To me Survivor is just a name now.. The future should have found the past and re-created the magic. Jim Peterik should have been brought back in the band when Jimi came back. Clearly Survivor isn't a touring band much anymore. Maybe royalties were so great that Frankie doesn't feel the need to tour and try to rebuild the band such as Foreigner has. I can't really see why anyone would want to buy a ticket to see Survivor live. The fans here on this board are die hard true fans . I don't think the world really cares.
I really like what Jimi Jamison has done over the past few years with RPM and other singers that tour and play the hits the fans want to hear. I am very excited to see his calendar filled with dates and a upcoming cd . Jimi is popular and has been trying to rebuild his name and has some very good people and bands around him now.

Jim Peterik and Jimi Jamison make a great team ! To me they were the heart and soul of the band. Lyrics and Vocals. You need to always be out there in front of the public to be viable . You can't help but respect what Peterik has done with these huge World Stage shows. Look at the wonderful friends these guys have . They have branched out . Frankie might be awesome and have that "signature" sound but to me he shouldn't be calling the band Survivor regardless if he "owns " the trademark.

I am glad Dave Bickler has also moved on to a better career too. It's too bad the name over shines the players in it.

Survivor: Where Does Sullivan Go From Here?

Postby Red13JoePa » Wed Feb 20, 2008 1:08 pm

Same place they've always gone since the advent of the internet.

Half-years of silence plugged by posts on the site boasting of side projects and 1-off shows and whirlwind touring and recording/realeasing plans as though they were preparing to conquer the world as a band again.

First of all you aren't Survivor's tour manager. They also do private gigs. Everyone in Survivor is a top notch musician by all counts. Once again belittling others doesn't bolster your case. Why can't you wish FS and the band the best? Nope we have to marginalize their talents. Die hard fans don't do that. How are things down in Mississippi anyway? LOL

For one, were I Frankie, I would apologize to all the fans for whom he tore new assholes for daring to ask what the status of the new record was 7 years after its "impending release" was reported on survivormusic.com.

I never understood these celebrity types who don't have day jobs and claim to be "busy" with "projects" all the time, and yet nothing sees the light of day. Sullivan is in that category, to be sure.

No, but maybe he SHOULD be.
Because he's right.
Fans like us here will tell you that Survivor's always been a sleeping giant, EASILY the caliber of Journey, Foreigner, VH, etc...yet they're like a Lamborghini sitting in Frankie's garage, hobbled since 1988.
And what does the inside Mississippi joke mean, anyway?

First of all bands like Journey and Foreigner all struggled in the 1990's and Survivor didn't even have their following in the 80's. It's not FS fault that melodicrock was pushed away for the dark sounds of the 1990's. I for one got tired of seeing Survivor open for REO. I like REO but I always thought they were equals. His screenname was Bulldog. Jamo is from Mississippi. Mississippi State Bulldogs!

Eye,

What is it FS exactlly lied about? That's a pretty tough charge to make unless you back it up. Are you sure you both didn't see things in two different ways? Is it possible there was just a misunderstanding?

If they go on "Creative Hiatus" for another year, you can expect to see them doing boat shows in 2009.

I'm curious. How many tour dates would satisfy everyone? 100? 150?
