Postby Eyeof » Tue Mar 25, 2008 12:59 am

Hey guys...I just recently finished reading Nikki Sixx's The Herion Diaries....

It was a great read and I'm a huge fan of the soundtrack of Sixx's band SixxAM....

You have to give it to Sixx, to be him and be able to have a hit album is pretty solid....

I'm reading Slash's autobiography now and I finsihed Clapton's about a month ago...it's all pretty interesting...

Did any of you read "The Dirt?" Talking about a read....wow....

I guess Motley is putting a new ablum out this year that will be a soundtrack to that for a movie that is coming out as well...

Very inventive...

I have no time for another Sixx side project getting in the way of Motley BUT of course I read and loved/laughed at/was shocked by The Dirt.

Really, to find a band as cool as the Crue you need to look at The Stones' level.

Red, didn't know you were such a Crue fan...awesome...I love those guys...and yes, to me they are at that level of near stoneism...

Have you listened to Sixx:AM? It's good stuff...and to think, it's done better than any crue project since Dr. Feelgood (album i mean)...

The 2005 concert was AWESOME....

I hope the Crue album due this year is in the same vein as SixxAM...I hope they sell the crap out of it...and I know it will rock...

But hey, i loved Generation Swine, so what do i know....

Heard one Sixx AM track and I'm kinda "eh" on it.

I just get leery whenever Sixx or Lee's A.D.D. kicks in and they hold motley up for a little while.

Generation Swine's the SHIT.
You have the remaster with the bonus tracks? If so how great is Wreck Me? 8)

dude, i thought i had it all on the remastered box set, but I'm not finding wreck me...it's not on my ipod, i'll have to relook tonight...damn....did i miss one?

I love that album though...

What did you think if MC with Corobi? I liked it....

As for SixxAM...i think you have to look at it as an entire body of work, not just one song...you know?

Music To Crash Your Car To Vol II stops after the '94 Corabi album (yes, I even love that).

The remaster of Swine has Wreck Me (sick, sick SICK monster track) an alternate version of Afraid that also rocks and a killer tune called "Kiss The Sky" that became "Flush" on the final record.

Is the other version of Afraid, the one that has the sounds that almost sounds like a train in it?

Yea, and a distinctly different opening and bass track throughout.
There's even a THIRD different version (though not as good as the alt Swine one) on Red, White And Crue.

Red, knowing you are that into Motley, what did you think of Guns N' Roses...Have you heard any of the Chinese Democracy stuff?

I think they were an awesome band. I think they could have been a Stones type deal, but way too many issues...

In concert, (when they were tight and on) nobody sounded better...nobody...unfortunatley when they were not...well, they were not...

Meh.
They WERE my favorite band in the world for a long while in '91 when the Illusions came out.
I have everything they did (save for the GH), but haven't bothered w/ the CD leaks.

Then once I got Van Halen's For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge in early '92 GNR was no longer my favorite and now I have them signifigantly lower than Motley.

When I think of my top 5 bands in no particular order I probably roll Stones, Motley, Survivor, Journey, VH (or maybe Skid Row or INXS oddly enough).

I'll have to send you what I have to the CD leaks...if they would just release what I've gathered, they would have a huge success on their hands....

I think eventually, we'll see those guys back together...if Axl can handle it that is...

INXS, that is interesting...what do you think of the new lead singer JD Fortune?

he's alright.
Hutchence-esque, but I really like the song they put out with Jon Stevens who sounded less like Hutchence. It was called I Get Up and was great.
Long as Tim Farris is on lead guitar, though, I am on board.

INXS I think is terrific with JD. Does anyone know when a new record is due out?

I think one of the Ferris' had to take some time off for surgery or something...I thought Fortune was supposed to put out a solo CD first....but Switch is a great CD....

Sixx AM: Amazing CD...definately has to be a start-to-finish thing though.

Motley Crue: Waiting to see what they have up their sleeve. But Vince sure seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

G'N'R: Chinese Democracy is done and with all the shake-ups in the record label landscape we may see a very different form of promotion and sale of this CD. Of course they need to do something to live up to the wearing-thin buzz. Reunion? Doubt it. But money talks. Slash doesn't sound like he cares though...

INXS: Loved Switch and thought JD was great for the band. Last I heard, he had written a concept CD's worth of material but knew that once he 'submitted' it to the guys it would likely change form. I doubt we would hear a solo venture unless he REALLY felt strong about that concept album. He just doesn't have the recognition for solo work IMO.

I agree on the surface that G N' R reunion seems unlikely, but yes...Money talks. I mean really, how likely was an Eagles reunion or a Kiss reunion at one time...hell, David Lee Roth and Van Halen....

Also, let's be honest, to make a tone of money all they really need is Slash and Axl....You figure Duff is going to follow in...Does it really matter to most if it's Gilby or Izzy or someone else? Or who the drummer is?

Don't get me wrong, I would to see it all, but just an axl/Slash reunion would be a nice pay day....

EASILY crossed off my list, then.

I'm EXTREMELY rigid and set in my musical ways and given to not allowing different shit like that a chance.

Bah.

Come on, Colonel.

It's hard enough trying to get behind and root for McSurvivor right now. Who's got time for that other shit?

Dude, I wish more bands were making CDs that I wanted to put on and listen to straight through. There is so much going on on this CD. And I know you are a sucker for details when you listen to stuff...this would keep you busy for a while...happily I think.

Yes, I am and thanks for noting that about me.
Somethimes I think that my posts ripping apart albums and dissecting songs and stuff like that go right off the journey board under a barrage of arnel/schon/cain bashing, many sundry OT threads and midget and dog eating spam.
Never happens here as though fewer posters, the MR Survivor fans know their shit and can debate the songs and the albums all day.
Dave28, you and I are a lot alike in that facet.
I could talk about 25-year-old records like Frontiers or Vital Signs and their various nuances and never get sick of it.

End of dewey-eyed "Good to have you back J28" speech :D

Aww Shucks!!

But you have me at a disadvantage...I cannot seem to retain those details anymore (Age ya know!). You start talking about someone's guitar work at "this point" in "this song" and I am like "Yeah, that was cool! Better go pull out the disc and check it out!!"

There was a 30-second clip of a new Crue song on the Journey board for a while.
