 I was wondering when Jamo plays live why he doesn't play anything of Empires or Cobra . If he is doing a RPM or Voices Of Classic Rock Show I can see the short set list with just the 6 Survivor hits.

I like when a band tries to rebuild itself with a new set list and a lot of touring kinda like the way Mick Jones did with Foreigner.

Maybe there is no market for Jimi to really re-establish himself in the American live touring market. I like when he used to open up for Starship in concert and played Casinos.

If Jim Peterik would do a tour with Jimi once the cd is out then it would mean so much more than just writing a cd .

What do you all think?

If Jimi and Jim would tour together I think that they should be able to call it Survivor more so than Frankie gets to call his version Survivor.

I already confused myself - it stinks when bands break up!

Yeah Frankie owns the name . Jim Peterik has a lot of people working for him and with him these days and he pumps out a lot of product. Jamo is still the voice of that sound but I guess they will never be together again.

You are right. Jim pumps out a lot of product. It's great he stays busy. I'm hoping the time going into the JJ album really pays off. Some other stuff has fallen short imho.

I agree with you about the break up. The band was best when they were together. Legally JP and JJ can't call themselves Survivor. It's pretty simple.

It won't be the same without either. FS is vital to the sound. JP is essential to the sound as well.

That's how great the band is/was. I remember in the early 90s ('93ish) when there was two versions of the band (Bichler, Peterik, and Sullivan) and then the Jamison one. I used to brag to people about that.

Interesting. I was just miffed that JJ would go out and call his band Survivor. Maybe if I was him, I would have done the same who knows? That said, there was one guy who wanted to let him HAVE the name (possibly because "litigations bring out the worst in people" verbatim, I promise!) and for that ironic "green light" I felt JJ did what he did.

Although both JP and FS did agree JJ's shouldn't have done so. Its the PAST I know but atleast we're talking here.

I never could believe what JJ was doing to be honest. I mean, it would be one thing if it was FS and McAuley touring and JJ and JP or something...there would be some legit thinking there, but really, it was Dave, JP and FS (which to me, that is Survivor) and JJ and a bunch of guys that had nothing to do with Survivor at all. Under no stretch of the imagination should he have had that right. Hell, he even put an album out under Survivor. An album that it took me until two years ago that I could even buy.

To be honest, I guess this is where I lost some respect for FS. Don't get me wrong guys, I know enough from my field of work that what fans know and perceive goes on, and what really goes on is generally not even close. But FS would come on the Survivor board and blast JJ. Tell us how wrong he was (and I believed it and still do). He would say it would be over soon and JJ would have to stop. JJ was a taboo word on that board and righfully so.

Imagine my surprise one Saturday morning when I hoped on this board to see that JJ was back in Survivor and Dave gone. As I said, not meaning to drum this up, but it was just a shock that I never found a way to get over. Before that time, i was as much a FS disciple as say Slander. I just didnt' understand it.

Did FS owe me an explanation. Nope. But did i have to continue to follow. Not really.

But that makes me no less of a fan of the music. He guys, I love it. I don't like Robin's voice for Survivor, but if they played within two or three hours of me and i had to pay say $60...i'd be there to give it a chance.

So don't say I'm not a fan. The music is special. It's the most underated music that i've ever heard. When I look back at some of the stuff that were hits back then. It's sick really.

Again, I want to make it clear that was not meant to be a FS bash post. I promise, I know that we as fans think, the gap between that and reality is so wide. I was just explaining my thought process. For all i know, Dave killed FS's dog while doing crack. Which would make it very understandable. I'm being tounge and cheek here, but nobody knows more than I how much more to it there can be.

I also know, JV, how difficult it can be to have to sit on the truth, while everyone around you is so wrong what they feel is right. And I do think you do a good job of tying to steer this board in the right direction, while being obviously handcuffed in what you can say or not say to a point.

I agree that Jamison's use of the name was pure usurping.

BUT, to rationalize it a little for him, maybe he figured "Shit Sullivan's Survior can't get out of its own way and do ANYthing consistently (at that point early-mid 90s), the fans want to hear the Survivor music, SOMEbody may as well do it."

yeah...i had no problem with him playing the music, but he should have never put the survivor name on empires...not while DB, FS and JP were still touring...

you know?

Hell, I don't care if four different groups play the stuff. Hell, then maybe we could actually hear it live between somoene...

Bulldog....

The people come to hear SURVIVOR tunes....not Cobra, not Empires.....BUT, he was the lead singer on 5 of them (Tiger was obviously DB and I don't condone him doing that one.......didn't write it, didn't sing it).....I am all for Jamo making a living, and if people are willing to pay him to go out and do those tunes than he should do it.....the man IS a legend, pure and simple....he WAS the voice of those tunes, and there is a value to that....I respect Jamo's talent and what he has accomplished.....it just becomes a gray area sometimes at who's expense we make a living.....

But that being said let Jamo sing WHATEVER they pay him to sing....he sang the originals, let him sing them all he wants....the people come out, give em what they want!!!

Go Jamo!!

JV is Survivor going to sing any MSG songs in concert? I know that many on the board are not in favor of that but some Robin has some great songs in his aresnal.

Add SURVIVOR songs before MSG.

Oceans, Can't Let You Go, The One That Really Matters, Half-Life, Gimme The World, Tell Me I'm The One, Hungry Years.

If I remember correctly, Marc did a slight variation (if not exact), opening drum part of SLANDER for EOTT in August 2006 in Kansas City. For me, EOTT was even MORE rockin' then the original tune (if that was actually even possible). Nicely done. Expect a PM from me. 8)
