The new cd will make him sound like a million bucks.
bulldog wrote:I think his voice is rocky . Behind The Music song sounds awesome and close to his 80's style studio performance. The live stuff I have heard is uneven . Hoarse vocals on some of the songs, other stuff he has that horse power behind him. I am his biggest fan and I am also a singer . I have tried to study and copy his vocal delivery . I would hope he has cut back on smoking or quit while recording to make his throat stronger.
His pitch is still there . It seems like he needs to workout out and concentrate on stamina and build up wind . It is weird how some voices just don't sound anything like they used to at all . I have the Rock Pop Masters live cd. 58 years old or whatever he his isn't all that old and many singers are better now than they were when they toured 150 times a year. John Wetton is a prime example of heavy smoking and drinking and listen to him now and he has the horse power to deliver like he used to. Lou Gramm sounds much better now than he did 7-10 years ago.
On his myspace Peterik's song A Kiss To Remember is re-recorded with his vocals and he doesn't sound very much like him and hoarse there. When he had The Heart Of A Woman on there he sounded awesome . I am confused .
Some singers just have the voice and don't entertain in any other way. I saw Eddie Money last night live and he is all over the place . He is singing , playing harmonica , spinning the tamborine & playing sax . He looks a lot older and worn out than a lot of singers but he can sure kick some serious ass live . One of the best live performers and has great sing a long songs.
Studio production I am sure will make Jimi sound much better than he did on Empires or Reach .
I am also confused on the set list Jimi plays . If I had the success with Vital Signs etc I would be playing that whole album live. Throw in Eye Of The Tiger of course but that would be the shit live. If the guys were all still together maybe they would like other bands have done.
What do you all think ?

I think Jimi Jamison is an amazing singer...his voice has changed, he does not have the range he once had and in the studio Millas (JP's engineer) will clean it up....it sounds like smoking a few packs a day has worn his voice....he is an amazing talent, and I still believe that in 1985 he was one of the top ten pop/rock vocalists in the world....
I hope the album sounds great, I hope Jimi sounds great....I just want the songs to be more than the "write by numbers" or "same template" kind of thing....we have heard those songs all before...something new and different PLEASE!!!! With that being said, I again hope that JJ sounds great......and I am sure he will!!!!
A big fan.....JV

He smokes? Did he just start recently or has he been doing it all along? He should definitely try to kick the habit. I thought he sounded great on the Voices of Rock Radio recording though. Can't quite get all the notes and strains a bit but sounds good overall.
