News From Frankie

Great News! This was just posted yesterday 1-20-09 on Frankie's MySpace Page:

Ron Nevison *new*
Category: Music

Hi There… I was looking to reach out to my Mentor and man with whom I hold great respect for, Ron Nevison. My friend suggested I try The Internet – “DUH”

www.ronnevison.com

Check out the resume’ and listen to some of the most amazing work ever done in the world of recording and producing by the king.

I’m heading out west to work with Robin McAuley and his friend (and my new friend), Brent Woods, on new material. Can’t wait and Brent seems like a great guy. I’ve been looking for a third ear type person to be in the room and create with us and thanks to Robin I think we have found him in Brent.

More to follow...

Brent Woods, haven't heard that name in awhile. Wildside had a couple of good songs in the early 90's. I believe he also perform with the Vince Neil solo band in the 90's as well.

Could that mean they are working on putting an edge on "Survivor"? Just a thought.

Could mean they're not working on Survivor material at all.

Why wouldn't Droubay and the bassist be involved?

Brent Woods did play in Vince Neil's band, in fact he plays the Mick Mars part on Vince's live album recorded in 2002.

perhaps the reason the bass player and drummer are not in on the writing sessions are because they one, have had several different bass players in the years that I have seen them and two, I've never seen, or looked for that matter for songwriting credits with Marc...

I think people think that since you can play an instrument or can sing, that automatically means you can write, it doesn't. It takes a special type of person to write and not everyone can do that. I am sure once the music portion starts and they start practicing the new stuff, then they would get involved but not in the beginning stages.

Always an optimist Red. I'm just glad they are working! Can't we be happy about that.

Firstly, thanks Slander for the heads up.

Good points all around Cheryl. I'd like to add that Marc (who doesn't dare even sing in the shower!) would probably wish to sit this one out, till he's ready to lay down the grooves for the crafted tunes.

I've been hoping that the next Survivor album would ROCK a lot more than Reach did. Especially with Robin on lead vocals.

Marc never has done any writing in Survivor. He did co-write one song with Club MED.

I do wish that it would have been made 100% clear that Frank is talking about new SURVIVOR material. But I would of course assume that that's what he's talking about.

Since Survivor's current tour schedule is nearly non-existent at this time, I've been hoping that that's a sign that they are working on new Survivor material that will be released at least by the end of 2009.

Nope, not if it's a McSideProject.

Wake me up when a new Survivor album release is imminent.

I would lean towards thinking maybe it's not a Survivor deal, as he posted on his myspace and not survivor.com...but i'm only going off what Slander said, I stopped wasting my time at Survivor.com years ago...

of course in this day and age the movement is towards 'social' marketing...facebook, my space and such and less towards 'official' websites. It's cheaper and tends to be much more interactive and quite controlled i hear...

I just can't seem to get into that stuff, but it's teh new thing in pr/marketing.

The statement never said anything about "writing", he said 'ear in the room'. For THAT, I would think Doubray would be qualified as he has spent quite a bit of time in Survivor now...
