Jeremy Holiday / Eddie Money

Postby bulldog » Tue May 26, 2009 11:57 am

Hi Jeremy,
Is there any chance Sony is going to release anymore Eddie Money remasters?
His playlist I thought was kind of week and was missing a lot of his late 70's classic rock songs.

I was wondering will his NO CONTROL cd be remastered or even feature rare unreleased tracks from the vault?

Thanks .. Great work on the Survivor stuff.

No expanded reissue of "No Control" is in the works that I'm aware of. "Playlist" features the single version of "Two Tickets To Paradise" which is a completely different recording than the album version and had never been on CD before.

We decided to have "Playlist" focus more on his chart hits, because other compilations like his "Essential" had more of a focus on his '70s classic rock album tracks. Basically we wanted to have some differentiation between the various compilations that are available. And I think there are 3 sets of Eddie fans -- the fans of the more classic rock oriented '70s material, the fans of the more AOR and pop oriented '80s material, and fans who appreciate his whole career. "Playlist" is oriented more towards the '80s fans.

When I think of Eddie Money and all his best of cds Sony never really catches all the best.

Gimme Some Water , Can't Keep A Good Man Down & Rock N Roll The Place are essential to the Eddie Money catalog yet the are never on one cd with the rest of the hits.

Eddie is my favorite artist of all time . His songs are all different but his sound was much better pre-1986. Awesome live shows and endless touring are what he is most known for.

I wish all his disc would get remastered and put back out there . I see Sony is re-doing all the Survivor catalog . Why isn't Eddie getting his due like other bands such as Foreigner and Journey etc?

cduniverse.com has the entire Survivor catalog and new best of discs being re-released in July. Sony Bmg Imports . Expensive but it shows Vital Signs has a bonus track.

As I hear it the band has confirmed this fantastic and LONG overdue news....perhaps as with the Stones 60s era material Survivor had been waiting until the technology was good enough to do the catalogue justice. As I understand it every studio album from the debut through Too Hot is getting the full remaster treatment and US release.

Jeremy would be a better source......I have not talked to Frankie much in the 5 weeks since we finished writing, and he left my house and we agreed on a project together....he has been immersed in recording and I have learned to just hang loose while he is doing that...I have also had my own fish to fry in the past few weeks as well.....as far as my thoughts imports make most sense sometimes because they will sell 5 overseas to every one here stateside....it's a shame, but true....maybe even 10 to 1....

I am sure Jeremy won't mind me explaining about these imports. They are Japanese re-issues in the paper sleeve mini lp format. There is a new compilation for Japan which is going to have a different tracklisting to the Playlist compilation too. Finally Extended Versions is getting released in Japan for the first time too(ironic as it was recorded there!!!).The Vital Signs bonus track will be The Moment Of Truth as that has always featured on Japanese pressings of Vital Signs.
Hope this clears this up,Jeremy when he checks in will be able to expand on this I am sure. :D

Richard covered it perfectly. The only thing that I can add is that Extended Versions may (and I stress MAY) end up being the full 12 track show, rather than the 10 track cut down.

One other thing -- the Japanese papersleeve of the first album will have "Rebel Girl" on it, which has always been on the Japanese CD. I don't know if the individual albums have been remastered, but I know they were not remastered by Sony U.S. (which is where all the first generation masters reside).
If the 12 track live show ends up happening, that WILL be a new mastering provided by Sony U.S.

At this point the expanded "Live in Japan 1985" aka "Extended Versions" remaster (if it happens) would be for Japanese release only... but the master for it was provided to Sony Japan by Sony U.S., because Japan does not otherwise have access to these audio masters.

Jeremy,
I presume the Extended Versions would/may include I Can't Hold Back and It's The Singer,Not The Song with Marc's solo,if it goes to 12 tracks as these are the tracks that were cut I believe.
