Concert Videos

Postby Eyeof » Wed Jun 17, 2009 10:34 pm

Okay, so it's off topic, but I love Concert DVD's and Videos...Well, it's not completely off topic as Survivor does have one...You just can't seem to get a real copy...anyways....

What are your top 5 all time? And I don't mean the best quality etc...what five (non boot) concert videos gave you the most enjoyment?

5. Eric Clapton - Unplugged

The comeback of Slowhand. Although the version in Canada included "The Circus Left Town", which I really enjoyed. But this performance launched a genre and contained such passion of loss.

4. Jimmy Buffett - Live By The Bay
Come on it's the 80's man and what could be better than Don Johnson introucing Buffett for an all out drunk fest party in the bay in Miami!

3. Motley Crue - Carnival of Sins
Great DVD and it captures the concert very well. It's like being there. Over three hours of Motley can't be a bad thing!

2. Eric Clapton - 24 Nights
Simply put wow. Just watch the clip of Wonderful Tonight. This is a great concert DVD. EPIC!

1. Van Halen - Live Without A Net
I wore this VHS tape completley out, from front to back. Long before you could 'rip' off a dvd, I hooked up the stereo to the TV, made a cassette for the walkman and wore that baby out as well. I could not watch it enough. From the front to the back. It made me a huge, huge, huge fan of the Hagar Van Halen era, that still exist today. Go Chickenfoot.

The parts where Sammy picks up the lead guitar and Eddie plays keys, classic! I mean this had the feel of the real concert, which is what it should have...right?

By the way, I was not nearly the fan of Live: Right Here, Right Now. Who in the world came up with filming on different nights and having them change clothes. It's more like watching a damn video.

I prefer the Cruefest 1 DVD over COS for Motley. For that matter I actually like Lewd Crued & Tattooed over both despite the bummer Tommy/Randy absence.

Now Red...you just like the Hole drummer Samantha....So did Niki....promoting divorce number 5! lol

I like the crue fest as well, but just a lot more obscure songs on the COS...I mean red hot, On with the Show....that was a great Motley tour!

I got to see crue fest last year. Great lineup...I love Buckcherry....

I have my tix for this year as well, but not a crazy about the lineup, but can't wait to hear Dr. Feelgood performed front to back!

Agreed, though OWTS is an absolute atrocity of a song (best part of the song on this dvd was watching Vince go back and nail the Coors Lite a couple different times during it) they did some great old stuff inc Too Fast and Louder Than Hell (fine rendition, too) the new songs sounded great as well, though annoyed by Vince's omission of the lyric "This could be your reason not to get along" on Sick Love Song on both COS and Cruefest....COS also has a great Anarchy In The UK, actually a damn fine dvd that I now change to above L, C, & T. :)

You know I actually have a boot of a Motley Corabi concert DVD and a CD as well, and they actually do some pretty cool rendentions of the music...it's enjoyable...To be honest no motley crue record kicked any more ass than 'Motley Crue'.....none!

I also have an audio boot of Cherone in VH and he sounded pretty good with them in concert as well....

I'm waiting for a full pro-shot mastered dvd of a Feelgood show.
A few years back that was rumored to be in the pipeline but it seemed to morph into the COS show....

Let me tell you my man...I saw that '90 Feelgood show and to this day...it is the undisputed Champion of all rock concerts....

Every show/concert I left after that for years, I would turn to by buddy and say...."And still undisputed Champion of the World...Motttllleeyyy Cruuuee."

How about the Binghamton, NY show where Vince clocks a heckler mid-song then takes the mic back as dude's being led out and goes "ha ha!!! Fuckin wimp!!!!!!!!"

 One more reason Vince Neil is on the Mr Rusmore of coolest men in rock.
