Well as someone said, it's not like we can sit around and review the new album or talk about the latest show we attended...I think we've exhausted that...

I suppose the other thing we can do is simply stop visiting the board...other than that, yes...that what it might have become...

Hmmm... I think I figured it all out now.

Here's my theory: Andrew noticed that fewer and fewer people were coming here, so he called Frankie and said, "Dude, you need to release some music, ok? I'm losing board members."
Frankie thought about it for a moment and said, "Well, I'm not really into the whole 'music' thing anymore. How about I just post a vague rant on my new site. I won't name anyone specific, or even really make it clear what I'm ranting about, but I'll keep it kind of open-ended so people can speculate about it. That might get people back onto your message board."
Andrew: "Um, posting fictitious rants seems a bit silly to me."
Frankie: "Yeah, but it's a hell of a lot easier than writing an album. And it'll get people talking. Hell, if I do it right, it might even create the longest Survivor thread you've ever had, and it won't really require any real work from me."
Andrew: "Ok, whatever... thanks... I think..."

At least here, threads are talked about without all the name calling.

You left out the part where FS says:

"Andrew, did you ever find out why those #($**%'s left me out of the 'When Rock was King video?'...."

Rap with every other word being fbombs is king in 2010.. today the modern rock all sounds the same... very unoriginal and can't really get into it..It really wouldn't be as bad if they would at least release some demos of the new music on one of their MySpace pages or something.. Maybe even an audio trailer for the new material? Or even some old demos?

Personally, I love the band seeing as they are still my favorite, but regardless of the people in the band (even if it is really important), to me it’s the music, how it is performed and the powerful message that it sends.. I am not stressing about a survivor album but rather just passing the time with the other great aor music bands like sunstorm

Folks, Frankie is not the ONLY member in the band so we shouldn't be striking too many blows his way even as much as we want to.. Remember, anyone in the band could release some kind of information even if it is on a social network. As for when rock was king, it was a great message and the intent was good but it just didn't do anything for me.

Survivor has the potential of rocking harder than ever and becoming a comeback artist in the genre but I do believe that just because Frankie or anyone else hasn't released information is because they DO have lives outside of music and if that becomes too much, then I agree that Frankie should find someone to replace him as owner of the name. Another possibility is that they want this to be the best album ever and I do prefer quality of quantity of albums.. As for this website, I do know that at least JJ does visit here occasionally for show reviews..etc..

Well said Survivorfan2005.

As for me, Frankie is the sole owner of the name. He can do whatever way he wants with it. He clearly isn't tired of keeping the name and he's not going to give it up. I think what he wants is for past members to go through him for anything that is Survivor or any media/record company/promoter for that matter.

Im not sure what are the stipulations of the Law when a person is legal owner...does anyone know?

I was told by a reliable source that supposedly neither Jimi or Jim are allowed to use the name Survivor in any way what-so-ever. And that it includes them not being allowed to even say something like "Former Survivor member" or "Ex Survivor member."

Frankie owns the Survivor band name, so I of course fully understand why Jimi and Jim can't call their own projects Survivor. But I don't know how Frankie can be allowed to prevent them from saying "Formerly of Survivor" Or "Ex Survivor member?" It would seem to me that they should have every right to point out that they used to be in Survivor. But again, I was told that they can't.

Thanks for the clarification. No wonder why it irks Frankie both guys continue using the Survivor name (ex-Survivor as you say) when they perform. ( that said I don't how they can avoid it). Worse still (in FS' view) is that for the latest re-releases, has interview with JP on the making of the albums, while Frankie states "no need to go to anyone else".

Man it's darn complicated as it is. But As JV said, JP and FS must get back to together. Sigh.

I find that very hard to believe. Not saying you're making it up being saying "formerly of" is just a fact. He may "own" the band name, but how can own the word itself? Unless Jamison and Peterik AGREED not use "formerly of" I just don't see how it's legally possible to stop them.

Frankie should have cropped that photo of himself differently so that it actually shows the guitar (I assume he's playing one.) Without the guitar in the photo, he just looks kind of, um, constipated.
