I had a dream...

Postby Andrew » Thu Mar 03, 2011 3:02 pm

Seriously....

I was at the helm putting Survivor back together for "one last album" - Jim, Jimi, Franie, Marc....that's all I can remember :)

So, maybe I'll make some phone calls and see if someone somehwre was sending me a message
I'll even move to Chicago for 3 months to oversee it.

hmm....wonder if the mystery guitarist is any good ;) Seriously, it would be nice to see--might even convince me to go to a show.

...don´t know what it needs to bring all this guys at a table. Think this is a problem of hurt feelings, egos and a bit helplessness. It is so sad that great bands always come to a point where they forget what made them big. We are all humans and there is nothing that can´t be cleared with a good cold beer and a bit of time. Are they males or mouses ??

funny thing is that when big, big cash is involved they ALWAYS get over it....ie. Eagles, Kiss, Motley Crue and maybe even one day Gun's N' Rose's...however in this case, i don't think the $5,000 they stand to make is going to bring them back together!

...they need to ask them selfs ; when was the point where they I lost the hunger and the passion. I mean...what they are doing..? JP is doing jazz, FS is doing blues and JJ is touring solo. Sure they can live with what they doing...but..is it REALLY fill them deep inside..? Survivor can´t make the big money today but the days of Journey , Foreigner etc are also gone but they ar still rocking. They still give the fans what they want because they are still WANT it!!

JP and FS have enough $$ for sure. If money is the only reason why there isn´t new Survivor stuff ,FS wouldn´t think about a Blues procet..who the f**** would buy it ?? I didn´t buy Lifeforce becausw this isn´t what I want to hear as a Survivor fan.

and they are headlining 15-20,000 seat venues without Perry. There is a BIG difference. There would be more money to be made with a JP/FS/JJ reunion, but the comparison is apples and oranges as far as popularity goes.

I don't think either one of those would be aimed at Survivor fans. Lifeforce is aimed at the jazz market, which is an entirely different arena from melodic rock. The FS blues cd would be the same. I wouldn't expect to hear "Survivor" in either of them. Having a minor interest in blues, I'd be interested in seeing what the cd would sound like.

I don't think there is enough demand for money to be the deciding factor, although there is more money to be made in Europe than in the US. At this point, I'd say the best option is for them to actually want to co-write again, but that requires one of them extending an olive branch and both parties being willing to put the past behind them. Without a tremendous amount of money on the table, I don't know whether it will happen or not, as there is obviously some bad blood from years ago.

But maybe their tastes have simply changed. It happens. Maybe FS just enjoys playing blues more now. Maybe JP enjoys dabbling in jazz. I think most artists get tired of doing the same thing too many times. Part of being a creative person is wanting to branch out and explore new ground. I'm sure FS and JP know that there would be more money to be made from a Survivor album than there would be from a jazz or blues album, but if that's not what they're really into at the moment, I can fully understand why they aren't doing it. My guess is that they both have enough money now to allow themselves to explore whatever types of music they feel like exploring.

Basically there is still too much of a divide between the guys and there remains legal issues still in play. So any reunion idea would be complicated by how current legal disputes affect everything.

That was the point I was intending to make...the only thing and I mean the ONLY thing that can make guys suck it up and do these reunion deals is MONEY! And it's just not in play here. If it were, then all the other stuff can be fixed by lawyers and contracts and MONEY!

I listened to the new remastered cds with Jamison on vocals and all I can say is wow. They had real magic back then and everything just worked so well . Hard to believe that the 3 guys never released anything together after 1988 .

Vital Signs , When Seconds Count & Too Hot To Sleep are really awesome albums.

Jamison appears to be in hot demand everywhere outside of the US. That is awesome . He is keeping the tunes and the profile up on Survivor music alive. Noboday could touch his singing back in the day .

How come there have been no bonus tracks featuring Jimi Jamison on vocals ? I can't believe with all the songs they recorded there are no Too Hot To Sleep left over tunes.

I am listening to a mix of Crossroads Moment & Extra Moments tonight . The cool thing is you can make 2 cds out of all them tunes released.

Nope. Jim doesn't need the money.

Ive seen a youtube of him doing Feels Like Love. Clearly he's a fan of Survivor music which is a good thing.
