I'll have listen... but why do they say he's the voice of the Tiger and play the Bickler version?

Wait, is the album actually going to be called "Voice Of The Tiger"? I hope not. I know he sings "Eye Of The Tiger" a lot in concert, but it's always going to be Bickler's song. If Jimi really felt the need to cash in on Survivor's fame, he should have tried ripping off one of the songs or albums that HE made famous ("Vital Voice", "Too Hot To Sing", "When Singing Counts"... ok, maybe not those.)

It's called misleading and unethical promotion...simple. Bullshit, and it is the number one thing I HATE about the music business....

I have a book that I bought back in 1985 of all of the #1 songs on the Billboard charts from 1955 through 1985. The band photo that the book uses for Survivor for Eye Of The Tiger is from the Vital Signs time period, with Jimi in the photo.

Not sure if you are saying it's okay for him to call himself the 'Voice of the Tiger' because he's in this picture...
I gotta agree with JV here. On top of misleading and unethical, it's also grandiose for him to think ANYONE attributes that song to him. All I can say is, 'Wow'

Jimi Jamison has been singing Eye Of The Tiger for nearly 30 yrs. He is well known as a international star outside of the US . I am sure he is enjoying his new found success . He probably needs the exposure and the money unlike Peterik & Sullivan because they wrote all the tunes .

Jimi seems like he is having fun out there keeping the fans happy. I think he should hit the studio and re-record Survivor tunes . Sullivan doesn't seem to be aggressive enough to get new tunes out there or play enough live shows for the fans. It's all about the fans in the end .

Maybe one day Bickler & Jamo can do a small casino tour playing all the hits.

I don't totally agree with the use of JJ as the voice of Tiger, but atleast in Europe JJ is known as the guy who sings Tiger "live" . But I don't think the promoters can get away with that in America.

Besides they can't call it the voice of the Cobra, or could they? :P

No. I was just giving another example of people (in that case the publishers of the book) incorrectly associating Jamison as the lead vocalist of EOTT.

So we maybe get two Jimi-records in 2011. Fine!
I've just checked Dave 's site (http://www.davebickler.com/): "Album soon". But I don't know how old this entry is.

It's funny I work with this kid that just recently won one of the highest regarded sporting events in the world...at any rate, before the event I was telling him (he's 20) that he should sing "Eye of the Tiger" to himself during the event to be fired up....he laughed and said that song was cheesey! I told him I was done with him.

At any rate, he called me a week or so later to tell me he had remembered why he thought that way about Survivor and that song. He said all it reminded him of that old cheesey coffee commerical where the band was following some guy around. This is not bashing the commercial, just a funny perspective from a different generation...

If I remember correctly, it's Glen throughout most of the commercial, and after Glen leaves, Roy appears, and the band starts singing to him instead.

Yes, you are correct. It is Glen during most of the commercial, and then a different guy named Roy at the end.

If any of you want to see the full length version of the commercial, it's on Youtube.

ANDREW

Or anyone else

I just finished reading an interview with Jimi Jamison on another website. The interview was done in 2007. In that interview, Jimi said that he and Joe Lynn Turner and Kevin Chalfant were planning on touring together, and probably with other singers as well.

Does anyone know if that tour ever took place, or if there are still plans for it in the future?

probably one of those "voices of classic rock" things where everyone gets to sing about 2 or 3 of their songs, and then it moves to the next singer. I think that's already been done here and there--mostly for corporate gigs and the like.
