It sounds like FS is working on some new tunes. Here's his latest Tweet:

frankiesullivan Frankie Sullivan
Day off. Much needed rest for all. Working on a soundtrack by myself. So far so good. FS

I'd love to see him go this route. Many great guitarists do soundtrack work! I just want to hear some new music damn it! LOL

I'm not sure if your being serious or not?

Unless something just changed in the last couple of months that I have not heard about, the Rocky series is officially retired.

Stallone was supposed to make a fifth Rambo, but he then backed out of it too.

I do think that he's supposed to make "The Expendables II," however.

It pisses me off that he backed out of Rambo V.

Agree about Rambo. I thought the fourth installment was pretty strong all things considered. Expendables 2 is happening. Here's the link. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/ente ... 909805.cms

And by the way, what is the point putting up any kind of Survivor news if all we are going to do is bitch about it? Help me with this one.

Well I'm not bitching my friend, but that really isn't Survivor news...it's something he's doing on his own....Basically all it is telling me is that he's not working on this so called mystery project..so I guess it is Survivor news, but not good news...

Come on Slander, you know exactly why everyone is bitching and deep down you are as well...I mean does this dude have ADD or what? He can't even keep his own BS straight anymore...

I don't give a crap what he does, but stop making promises you never intend to keep!

That's probably the biggest reason that people get so pissed off at him. He constantly tells the fans about new albums and recording projects that are supposedly soon to be released, and then he never follows through on any of it.

That kind of goes along with what I said about him claiming to be a perfectionist, and yet he never finishes anything he starts. Which is very un-perfectionist like in my book.

Actually, I think it goes right along with being a perfectionist. Think about it-- if you're not going to consider something finished until it's perfect, then it will never be finished because there will always be something you could tweak. I think finishing a project sometimes comes down to letting go and saying, "Ok, this is good enough," and a perfectionist can't do that. Now, I don't know if that's really what's holding up the new Survivor album (probably not), but I guess it's a possibility.

Well, I've read where Neal Schon has said that back in the 1980's Steve Perry would delay things in the studio while he waited on a certain microphone to be delivered or for them to get what he considered to be exactly the right gun-shot sound. It pissed off the rest of the band that Perry would waste so much time. I can see that having been a case of Perry being a perfectionist. But at least they would actually finish the albums.

In Sullivan's case it just seems like he's only half-ass working on anything, at best. He doesn't seem committed to doing anything.

In the end it all depends on what your goal is: knowing the goal, you know if somebody is a perfectionist or not
Our goal is to have a new cd, his goal might perhaps be to just play and create tunes. So it's a totally different space. Now, he might be a perfectionist in that, and this doesnt include an album anytime soon

The "soundtrack" in question is actally a rhythm guitar riff from the SECOND song on the "forthcoming" CD. Frankie told me he plans to have the bridge finished by early May at the latest. At that point, he will work on the chorus. It will require minutes and minutes in the studio over the course of 2012, but sans lyrics, the song should be ready for the lead and solo tracks to be laid down no later than August of 2014. The song will be finished by 2015 at the absolute latest...which, ironically enough, is the anticipated release date of the second new Boston track and the third forthcoming Def Leppard tune. What a year 2016 will be!

I agree. Look we have to face it, the days of FS/JP writing/collaborate is over and for today's times not many would care. The classic tunes now only matter.

I agree with you MJ. Does anyone really care? Yes I would like to hear new music by Survivor by Robin on vocals but at this point I have officially given up. I just don't understand having "coming soon" on a website if it ain't going to happen. I give JJ and JP credit for putting out new music, but do Survivor or casual fans care about a jazz album or JJ's album with Kimball? Is anybody rushing to buy those? I think you are on to something MJ.

I would venture most true Survivor fans are very excited about JJ's Toto album.

I like what I hear on the JJ/Kimball album but does anyone care? Or about a JP jazz album, or even a new Survivor album? I fear the name is using relevance other than just Tiger. Bring on Mecca 2 and 3!

I dont' know about anyone else, but I don't think Jamison's and Kimball's vocal styles compliment each other at all. When they switch in the middle of verses it is so jarring it takes me out of the song completely...

I should have my copy of it either this Saturday, or the up-coming Monday. I'm looking very forward to it.

It doesn't work all that well in the switching back and forth, but the mix is probably 70-30 in favor of Jamison. Too early for definitive comments about the album, but it's nice to get new material from JJ.

I think not only do the old tunes only matter, but also Frankie seems to have decided that there is no point in playing ANYTHING new (2 years already since they played "Reach" for instance).

He also did comment about playing "new" songs about a year ago that and I paraphrase "why do we need to play anything new when they only want the old stuff?".

HUGE news!!!

The paper for the sheet music for the keytar outtro for the second demo on the new CD has been (tentatively) picked out. Sullivan said the decision would likely be finalized by next March at the latest, but it looks like they're going with Hal Leonard standard.

This should pave the way for laying down the demo key tracks sometime in June or July, given Frankie's hellish schedule.
