Worse Replacement for band? JSS/Journey, Robin/Survivor

Postby Slander » Thu Dec 01, 2011 10:11 am

This discussion started on another thread. Interesting debate. Worse replacement JSS in Journey or Robin in Survivor. By the way I dig both and like what i heard in both bands.

Oh my gosh...JSS is not even close..granted he has the advantage of acually doing something with Journey beyond two county fairs and some kids 16th birthday party in omaha.

I actually saw JSS with Journey and to think about it, it is just so apples to oranges. That was a big production, sold out show at a real venue. Unfair to judge that against the three youtube videos and that gawd awful dancing with the stars effort...

I would place Robin/Survivor up there with that awful Paul Shortino/Quiet Riot deal in the late 80's....sorry red!

I wrote this on another thread.

Robin!

I finally saw them this summer, my first time with Robin and first time in almost 10 years since I saw the band. The band as a whole sounded good and was tight but was to loud. It could have been how it was set up being outdoors but my ears rang for a day! I want to hear the words and it was so loud it turned into mesh. Robin was out there, a good front man and really getting the crowd going, but I couldn't get past the tattoos and rocker look. Don't get me wrong, I like that look but it doesn't fit with the band or the songs. I"m not knocking Robin! I like him, and things he's done with other projects, but not Survivor. That is why it took me 10 years to finally go see them and only reason is they were practically in my back yard, I could miss the opportunity. I just feel so very fortunate to have seen them with Dave all those years ago. It was so worth it!
