How many have you been to and rate then on a scale of 1 to 10 with comments if you want...

1. 1985 Vital Signs Tour, Birmingham, Ala. - The first concert I ever went to. They opened for Bryan Adams. I was pretty young, but I remember they opened with Feels Like Love and closed with Tiger. I can remember watching JP play his heart out on that keyboard. It was the first, so I'll give it an 8.

2. 1999 - I waited a long time to see them again. This time at River Festival in Alabama and with Bickler. They rocked. Opened again with Feels Like Love. I can rememeber they really rocked on Nothing Can Shake Me. They were crisp and it was a great show. I'll give it a 9.

3. 2000 - I saw them at the TD Waterhouse in Orlando. This time with JJ, but they were the third band on a Reo/Styx show. They only played about five songs and there had to be a half hour of useless guitar solos. By far the worst I've seen them. Rating: 2

4. 2001 - Saw them again at Orlando, this time at Disney's Pleasure Island and with JJ again. Much better, the show pretty much rocked and they actually played behind the Outfield (I Don't Want to Lose Your Love). Jamison was very crisp and the band sounded nice. Rating 7

5. 2005 - Downtown Charlotte - They basically played in the street. Behind Edwin McAine and before Loverboy. The set list was aweseome, but too much guitar solos and JJ's voice was shot by this time. Still a good show, just really hot in the middle of the day and they weren't into it and neither was what little crowd was there. Rating 4

I've Seen Survivor 3 times

1. 1984-PULLMAN WA-opened for REO. Jamison new. Great show. They played I'm not that man anymore! Nice show. Everyone was impressed.

2. 1986-SPOKANE 2A-Jason and the Scorchers were supposed to open. They no-showed. Frankie came out and played Blues under the group name "Spleen". It was a riot, although I think the 14 year old girls were bored to death. The show itself was okay. I'm not a huge fan of WHEN SECONDS COUNT so the songs didn't do much for me. I did like CAUGHT IN THE GAME. BEST PART WAS FRANKIES GUITAR SOLO ON NEVER GOING TO LET YOU GO.

3. 2002-DENVER, CO- I had the pleasure of watching from the stage. I had interviewed the band before the show about the 20th anniversary of EYE OF THE TIGER. They were opening for Loverboy and Eddie Money on the VH-1 triple shot of Rock. Solid show. Nothing Special. Jimi wasn't that energetic. I agree Frankie's guitar solo in I SEE YOU IN EVERYONE went on way too long. Still cool to meet the guys and watch them play from the stage.

I'm fan from 1993... Dave comback time..
I'm born on the Premonition era :)

The only show I attended was the last show with Jimi Jamison on vocal

1 - Rutltand, Vt June 5th 2006
The show was OKAY..
but JImi Voicice was not great.. just OK.. and too long solo on See You In Everyone.. not like the old solo in 1985..

The best show I heard (tape) of Survivor:

1 - Live At Chicago Haymakers Club, IL 1978
Singers: Dave Bickler – Jim Peterik
2nd Concert In The History Of The Band

Intro (Jim On 12 String Guitar) - Everybody – Love Has Got Me – Kid Dynamite - Midnight Sunshine Lady – Somewhere In America – Masculine Intuition – Mainstreet Saturday Night – Life Is On The Line – Chicago Blues – Slippin’ Away – Turn It Around – Dancin’ Days Velvet Nights > Jim vs Frank Guitars Duels –Nagauhyde Heart – Pepper Head – Hot Water – Chancy – Travelling’ Music – Survivor – L.A. Goodbye

Almost saw them with Kansas in 1982 but MISSED the show to my everlasting regret.

First saw them with REO Speedwagon at the Spectrum in Philly on 2/12/85. GREAT SHOW! I wanted them to play longer than the hour they were alloted. I remember JJ's voice cracked on the high note of EYYYYEE.......of the Tiger. Otherwise he sounded just fine.

Next show was during a heatwave(100 degrees!)....logically enough...on August 4th. The year was 1987 and they were at Valley Forge Music Fair in Devon, PA. Steve Mullen(who wrote Eddie Money's hit Endless Nights) was the opener. Great show but they were cranked up a tad too loud for this smaller venue. My ears were almost bleeding!

They haven't been back to my area since. I'm bummed I never caught them with DB. But I did see JJ's band on 5/26/98 at Trump Marina in NJ.

The VT show was June 11th 2006...that's okay though...You must of had mercy to give an "okay" comment on that show...I was seriously disappointed...kind of caught me off guard as die hard fans like myself since the early Bickler days deserved way better...The last time I saw Jamison before the Rutland,VT show was back in the summer of 95' in New Jersey..when he toured on Jimi Jamison's Survivor with his backup band and they smoked the place that night...had the crowd on their feet at this place called Club Bene'...can't understand what happened since then...or since the 80's for that matter...

but hey...rock still lives and hopefully the magic will again someday...

1986 (?) When Seconds Count tour- Good, JJ was great vocally (Memphis TN)
1991 (?) JJ with Target, and When Love Comes down solo cd, sucked big time (Dyersburg, TN)
1993(?) With RB on Greatest Hits tour, remember being disappointed for about five minute JJ was with them, great show, even though JP's keys feel off the stand while he was playing them (Mobile Ala)
2000 Opened for Styx and REO. They sucked big time. JJ was back and sounded bad, as did the rest of the band. A long guitar solo, WHY? (New Orleans, LA)-ERIC

Survivor live

Postby johnnieutah » Mon Jan 08, 2007 1:52 pm

I saw Survivor with Jimi and Frankie about 2003 or so, can't remember if Jim was there. They played at Southern Utah University for the Utah Summer Games. People in the crowd likely only knew Eye of the Tiger, lots of older folks and kids there, but I thought they sounded real good. Can't remember specific songs, but I think they played Didn't know it was love, Eye of the tiger (of course), stuff from Vital signs like The search is over, and several more.

Honestly I have seen Survivor a few times and was never impressed. They are a better studio band. I saw them first on the vital signs tour...I think they opened for REO. They played mostly Vital Signs songs and threw in Eye of the Tiger. Then I saw them with just Jimi with the Starship and Molly Hatchett. Molly Hatchett opened and stayed on the stage longer than they should of. Curfew got Starship and Survivor. Jimi only played like 4 songs. Then I saw Survivor in the late ninities with Bickler on vocals they opened for Night Ranger. Bickler was kinda creepy at the time.....he looked like a cross of the crypt keeper and a biker dude........it wasn't very good......long guitar solo and Frankie sang vocals on a very long song. Then a couple years later saw Survivor again opening for Night Ranger. This was the best I saw them except for the Vital SIgns date, but did not like the song selection. Then once more in 2002. They opened for Loverboy and Eddie Money....Survivor only played like 5 songs and had a guitar solo longer than any of the songs they did....pretty disappointing appearance by Survivor.

I have just seen them once. It was in 1993 and they did a little tour over Europe. The tour ran under the monniker "The Eye Is Back in `93". The 18th of April they played the so-called E-Werk in Cologne, Germany (http://www.e-werk-cologne.com/), that has a capacity of ca. 3.500 people. Ticket price was $ 16.

The gig was not sold out, but the was a good attendance there. STAN BUSH opened and presented songs from his 'Every Beat Of My Heart' album and of course "The Touch".

Dave Bickler was just great. Frankie Sullivan and Jim Peterik were there, but I don't remeber the other two fellows. Have to look up the setlist.

I saw them in 1995, at Rye Playland in NY. The line-up was JJ and a bunch of people I'd never heard of before, but they billed themelves as Survivor and played Survivor songs.

The show was okay, but could have been better. It started about an hour late, opening with Caught In The Game, but JJ's mic didn't work, so it was basically an instrumental song.
I don't remember the entire set list after that. I know they played the classics like High On You, Can't Hold Back, Desperate Dreams, etc. And they also performed a couple of songs from "When Love Comes Down" ("Rock Hard" was one of them.)
Then they did a very long drum solo, which got annoying.
That was followed by some Doors cover songs.
And the encore, of course, was EOTT.

Axe...please tell us everything you can remember about the '82 tour...setlist? Anything....did you by any chance record it on your iphone? Or Atari 2600? Guess not...

David - The 'duel touring' days were very, very confusing. With the internet not as prominent, people had no idea who they were going to see at that time...I still think JJ was wrong to do that...How can you tour against Frankie, Dave Bickler and Jim Peterik and bill yourself as Survivor? I mean come on! Those three ARE SURVIVOR!

Still, the good ole' days!

Eye of....and anyone else who cares....saw them Sept. 6th 1982(yes im old)...was my freshman year in college, they opened for REO on the Good trouble tour....I don't remember the songlist in any particular order, but I do remember they opened with Feels Like Love and closed with Tiger. I do remember they also played American Heartbeat,Poor Man's Son,Children Of The Night(Peterik on guitar as well as frankie),and maybe Man Against The World...somewhere buried somewhere I still have the Survivor shirt I bought that night......doesn't fit, but I still have it somewhere.

The show itself, as you can imagine, was a no frills opening slot. One thing I remember is that REO didn't play games with the sound etc like some headliners do to the opening act. The band was solid and you could tell they were riding a wave at that point. I remember being so stoked that they were there and being impressed with them.

Thanks Axe...sound cool....

A shame they were never really a headliner...would have been awesome...

Although I think they had a smaller venue headline deal with the When Seconds Count Tour...
