What a great choice of songs in their setlist.

Interesting set list...nothing off of 'When Seconds Count.'

A Jimi Jamison solo show is the best bet to hear all the songs and especially all the hits. Jimi has a variety of great songs in his own right. I really think it is all about business and less about recording new music etc.

Yes I want to hear the hits, but I want to hear Sullivan on Guitar and Droubay on Drums. I saw Jimi solo and the band sucked, made all the difference in the world.

I agree Sullivan and Droubay are awesome . I just think back to an older time in the early 2000's and the same complaints are the band is stiff on stage.

I just don't understand why they don't play anything off When Seconds Count . If they did " Is This Love" a capella or acoustic driven to really shine the vocals it would be killer. " Man Against The World " too.

I am glad they are back together for the reason that we get to see Jimi Jamison sing live in the USA.

If Sullivan has a studio there is no reason he can't re-record some of the older tunes with Jamison on vocals for an EP etc.

If Foreigner can do it there is no doubt Survivor can .

Your comments are interesting. I remember taking friends of mine to Survivor shows of the 80's and while my pals weren't big fans of the group they did appreciate how tight the group was. Very polished, very slick. Having said that, that can be a problem too because you want a little spontaneity to any concert.

What I mean is the set list is pretty much the same as the one Robin had with the band. Survivor with Jimi was about flare and keyboards and more exciting arrangements even if today that sound is dated.

I think an acoustic number or just a plain out vocal without the drowning of instrumentation would kill live..

Jimi's era was more about the voice and the power ballad stuff.

I am the type of fan that wants to hear the songs I grew up on live. I enjoy hearing the hits but it seems Frankie is more interested in playing in the tunes he loves . Nothing at all wrong with that but the set list and songs selected seem the same.

Jamo's style of singing is uneven . If he would have continued to sing keyboard and pop styled songs maybe his voice would have remained polished and crystal clear.

Jamo's vocals are good again .. I have read where fans have said that he is too true to the recordings and stands there tries to sound like the cd.

Just my opinion .. These guys are successful and have lived a better life and made a lot more money and waves in the world than I have so I soooo respect what they have accomplished.

So a couple questions I would have are:
1- Are they still mixing the instruments so loud that JJ has the scream over them?
2- Is FS still doing that obscenely long guitar solo (I noticed ISYIE wasn't in the setlist anywhere giving me some hope)

I'm still on the fence about seeing them near me in July. If I knew I could get Mark and Frankie to sign my LP after the show, then yes, I'd go.

Before long it will be an opening song, some best forgotten song with a 30 minute solo, followed by the closing song eye of the tiger :(

So...who's seeing them on the 7th in Hoffman Estates, IL? I'm either seeing them or Foghat in a nearby town.
