My favorite tune off of WSC is Oceans. Frankies guitar in the beginning. Damn! Magic. Did Dave ever do Oceans? I would kill to hear that.

I've never heard Dave sing any of the WSC songs. Jimi doesn't even sing those very much.

Jackie, Don't Go is great as well.

I think Jackie Don't Go seems to be a cult classic for Survivor fans? I've never heard a Survivor fan say that they don't love that song.

I love Half Life. Frankie's solo on it is very blusy with great tone. One friend of mine who is a huge Survivor fan says that it's his least favorite song off of CITG though. I think Peterik said he had had a bit to drink when he wrote the lyrics?

Jim strikes as a very positive guy. The lyrics are very dark. Could he have been reflecting on going solo at this time? Interesting thought. Read the lyrics.

I heard an interview with Peterik once where he said he had been drinking and he was sitting there trying to come up with lyrics for the music to Half Life, and he was thinking about how much time the band spends on the road and in the studio and how that cuts into things like family life, and that he was thinking that he was living a half life. Plus, of course there is the scientific term "Half Life."

Great stuff. Thanks for sharing. Stories like this make listening to the music fun. Didn't Jim always wanted to sing lead on songs from time to time? I don't mind him on Love Has Got me on the first album.

Jim has said that the original plan was for him to also sing a lot of the lead vocals besides Dave's lead vocals. I don't know if it was supposed to be 50/50 or not? But I think it was supposed to be closer to that than just the 1 or 3 (however you want to look at it*) songs that he sang lead vocals on.

*The reason I say 3 Survivor songs for Jim's lead vocals is because in addition to "Love Has Got Me" he also sang a little additional lead vocals on "Whatever It Takes" and "Light Of A Thousand Smiles."

Light Of A Thousand Smiles and Runway Lights are hidden gems. Has Runway lights ever been played in concert. The song brings a tear to my eye. Seriously. I think of it every time I get on a plane. I am near my family now but for years I was away working on my tv career. RL really hit me hard.

We all like to knock on WSC, and I agree, "Is This Love" is just waaaay too much, but over all with Back Street Love Affair and a couple of others, the album is to say the least solid...

I really could not get as much into THTS at the time, but at that time I had gotten really into Van Halen and Motley Crue and such, since then I can appreciate it is a bad ass album.

To be honest, it was hearing Dave's versions of a couple of the songs (Burning Bridges mainly) that really madde me realize how rocking those are...

I don't think any voice ever rocked more than Bicklers....

Would say the CITG Album was his best job with Survivor. It was his personel top performance. A pitty that he had the trouble with his voice and that he had to quit. And more pitty that FMS was never released with him on vocals officially.

FMS was great! Clearly written for him to sing. How great would it have been to see he and JJ share the same stage alternating songs. Just a thought.

I got into Survivor with Vital Signs, then the Ultimate Survivor compilation, and then I worked backwards. Pretty much love all their work, and I agree CITG is Survivor at its grittiest, hard-rocking best. I love all their output from the gritty to the "poppy" (WSC i guess). While we're speaking of Rebel Girl, how about Rebel Son? Another great song in the First Night tradition

About 7 or 8 years ago I was on a plane and I had Runway Lights going through my head when we started nearing the airport.

I've said many, many times that my dream would be for both Jimi and Dave to be co-lead-vocalists in Survivor.

When I saw JJ in August 2006 in concert he said something to the effect that HE wrote that song. What is the real story.

I'm ashamed of myself! I forgot that Jimi did co-write the song. I don't have any idea of who wrote which parts of the song? JJ did put a live version of "Rebel Son" on his Empires CD.

It's an awesome song, I love it!

It should have been on Survivor's first album right from the start. In later years it was added to the first album, but that wasn't until about 15 years after the album was first released.

They should have also had their original version of Rockin Into The Night on the first album. The band wanted to have it on the album, but they were given bad advice that they listened to and they didn't wind up with it on the album.

Of course, as you may know, it became a hit for the band 38 Special.

I remember the first time i listened to rebel girl, i was hooked instantly , just imagining all rebel grils that are on this world
and to listen that great riff and voice of bickler singin "have you seeeeen heeer..." the guitar parts were great

damn i love this song

Rebel Girl is a true gem. It's like a non-rocker that sounds like a rocker. Does that makes sense? Probably doesn't.
