The new edition of the german rock mag ROCKS has just been published. It contains a small but fine interview/ article with Jimi Jamison about his new album. About "Bullet In The Gun" Jamison remarks how important it is to follow one's own beliefs and that you should do what you want. In this context it is mentioned that his re-entry in SURVIVOR is just about this principle. Jamo is quoted: "That (Survivor) is nowadays just all about having fun and we had more fun recently than we had in the old days." The article ends with this: A few new tracks have already been recorded and they aim for an album in 2013.

I received my copy of Never Too Late today.

I don't really like to rank an album until I've had it for a while. I've given 3 listens already today. Things could change after a while, but I will say that so far I like "Crossroads Moment" and "Empires" better. But NTL is pretty good. Far, far better than the "One Man's Trash" album!

But I have to say that "Heaven Call Your Name" from the NTL album is damn depressing. Lyrically depressing, and it sounds like funeral music.

There is only the Japan-Release with the Bonus Track "Everybody got a broken heart" in an acoustic version.

Is that version more expensive for someone buying it from the US?

Hopefully it will find it's way on to Youtube eventually!

Is the acoustic track good? Do you think it was worth the extra money?

Was afraid that this question will come.....

It is not essential but nice to have. "Reach" had just an alternate Mix of "Seconds Away", "Crossroads Moment" had the stunning "Streets of Heaven". So it's something in the middle of those.

I dont normally accept to pay higher amounts of cash for the Japanese bonus shit.....I download the extra tracks and that's it......i hate cash grabbers !

I has been a good week. I went to see Deep Purple in Cologne, Germany on Thursday and saw an impeccable Steve Morse. And then I was informed having won in the Jamison contest as well...

Maybe I should stop playing the lottery and invest more time in music contests. The last two years I won the Fergie Frederiksen 'Happiness Is The Road' cd, two consective years two tickets für "Rock am Ring (KISS, Metallica etc.), one Flying V signed by Michael Schenker and now this...

From your review:
TageRyche wrote:It would appear that Jimi Jamison showed up, cut his vocals and called it a day[/url]

I think I read somewhere that Jimi didn't even "show up". Martensson recorded the songs how he thought they should sound (including the vocals) and sent them to Jimi. Jimi then recorded the vocals and sent them back to Martensson. I don't remember where I read that though, so don't quote me ;)

It really does seem more like a Martensson project with Jimi providing vocals...

Don't know if this is where you saw it but I know in the liner notes it lists the vocals being produced by Jimi and recorded in Memphis.

How does Jimi not writing the songs make it a "farce" and keep you from fully enjoying the album? He didn't write anything on Crossroads Moment but I highly doubt that anyone here say that JP writing everything ruined the record for them. The only thing I can see being hurt by his minimal involvement is his live show.

As I said in my review, I don't know the songwriting history for Jamison, so I didn't know that he didn't write anything on Crossroads Moment.

And I simply believe that if you put your name on something, you should have ownership and involvement in what you are doing. I said overall the music was pretty good. But the lack of Jamison doing anything but cutting vocal tracks leaves me with the feeling it was really just a guest appearance by him on an Erik Martensson album.
