Empires/Burning Heart version

Since hearing the Live version of Burning Heart at Jimmies Empires album, i always wondered:
Is one of backing vocalists taking over in the pre chorus (..... is it East vs West or man against man etc part) or is this Jimmy himself. I think the sound of the voice changes too much to be the same person.
Anyone knows the answer ?

yes the voice is Jeff Adams, the bassist. He also fronted the band Under Suspicion, and tours extensively playing bass for Mickey Thomas' Starship. He lives right outside of Memphis where Jimi lives. He has an awesome voice and he's also a great friend.
