Awful. Truly awful. This guy cannot handle this material. The more I listen to it, the more unlistenable it becomes. Sorry, but they are DOA already with this guy.

7 wishes. why do comment constantly on a band you no longer love or even like?? Your about as negative and angry a poster as I've seen on here in a long time. I don't begrudge your opinions but, why bother coming on this forum?? You never have a positive thing to say on here that I've seen. Someone buy this guy a drink and turn that frown upside down!

Not bad at all. Not bad.
McCauley I thought sounded good and in the context of the "performance" I can see now why the isntrumentation or some of it was not live.
The dance steps have to be calibrated.

But for what it was, that was pretty cool and the exposure we've had in a long time.

Fantastic! Just watching the band perform was great. Survivor without Dave or JJ, still rocking in front of 20 million people. NOT BAD AT ALL!

I liked it...He didn't sound bad...it wasn't dave...and neither was JJ doing that song, but he did well....it did remind me of the old solid gold days....anyone else? At any rate, it was in front of 20 milliion people....and that's more people than has seen them in the last 25 years combined....sans the starbucks comercial i guess....

Did anyone else notice how it looked like Frankie was trying so hard to get up next to Robin and get some TV time, but they never showed him? LOL

Was glad to see the Survivor logo back on the drums....

All in all, it was the biggest thing they've done in a long, long time...

Guys it was a sub=par vocal from Robin. He struggled throughout the song and had to go to falsetto to hit the higher notes. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't a good vocal either.

The exposure was great I hope Frankie can continue to pull strings like that and get them out there. I call it like I see it and I'm not condeming the band or Robin but that wasn't good singing or proper even though it wasn't easy as he had no live playing to back him.

Good band, having a good time together likin' one another and hopefully making cool new music for Robin's style/voice and I will tell ya he did better in august 06 than on this show. The man CAN sing his asss off!!!

Just watched this for the first time. Painful.

Survivor material is simply out of Robin's range. That's hard for me to say, as I am a huge logn time Mcauley fan....read back thru the site, I'm always mentioning him where possible. Great rock singer. But simply not somo9ne that posseses the range required for Survivor.

I also saw a 2006 live DVD of the band and it was the same there....the high notes were all missing :(

it was ok, i thought he'd butcher it, based on the soundbytes they posted to the myspace page or whatever, but it was ok.

Jimi still rules.

You know who the perfect new vocalist for Survivor would be? Hugo. He could take them to the top. Seriously! This is not a joke. He is available. I'd say his voice is even better than Jimi's at this point - and he's a young fella, in his late 30's.

Who knows?

It certainly would sound the old Bickler days w/ Hugo, not the Jamo days....I don't disagree that Hugo could pull it off.

I'm giving the band/McCauley the benefit of the doubt right now, they might kick my ass next record but 7's idea shouldn't be dismissed out of hand.

JOPA have you heard Robin's Solo Record? Good Frankie guitar. Could be a preview of what's to come in 2007. I think Andrew even liked the combination.

For sure...Robin's solo album was great, which is why I still hold hope for Survivor, but not in the traditional sound of the band.

I still think Robert Tepper would be a great singer for Survivor.. What do you think?

I think tepper would have been great....to be honest, at this point i think i wish they would have just went out and found a guy that sounded like the other two and moved on, kind of like Chicago did in the late 80's, or even like some would argue they did before....If this were 1987 and there was a chance to move in a new direction and make new stuff with success, that's one thing....but really at this point most likely their bread and butter is touring and playing the hits and i would have rather them went with someone better equiped to handle their body of music...time may prove me wrong and i hope it does....

You know I was thinking the other day. JJ and DB were kind of like the different sides of the same coin. Different in design and exacts, but still the same shape and hey, you can put it in the drink machine either side up. McAuley is like a square compared to them. It's so different. Not wrong, just different.

Opinion: From the typically oversuperlative way Frankie describes the current lineup and McCauley in particular it seems to me his mind was made up to do the McCauley thing as kind of an indulgence of a pet project: ie: really digs my man, has wanted for a while to see what survivor would be like with him, will have a 2-3 year MAYBE 1 album trial and if it's a failure we'll be reading the praises of Dave again or about how Jimi is "Golden Throat" again.

That's not to say the grand McCauley experiment won't work, just a contigency plan.

as they say..."Golden Throat" Today...Gone tomorrow....

I was thinking, remember how bad that interview he did with Andrew was? I can remember someone saying to Andrew, "So, are you going to talk with Marc Next," and he said NO...he was done with that deal....

I mean that interview was so bad and it was funny, because most of it completley contradicted Frankie's interview to the point it was comical....

Like the way he said the JJ insisted he sing that song...JJ was like, whatever, too pop for me....and he always sung it...it was just funny....

I had to laugh when Jimi called TBL too pop. As if Is This Love or I'm Always here aren't so sugary they will give you a cavity just listening to them. Talking about love is pop but it does have a signature Survivor sound. The guitar solo is terrific.

Slander, I have to agree with you...in his defence, however, he didn't write the Gaywatch theme, so we can cut him some slack there. His solo CD's were a little more rockin' than VS, WSC, or THTS.

UNbelievable song, just great. I'm not feeling the "too pop" vibe, either.

EyeOf: I DO distinctly recall Andrew's remark when quizzed about "So Marc's next for the Reach interviews, right?" It was along the lines of "Nope, done with that."

the 'bat: did you REQUEST Marc or only Sullivan and Jamison?
