Survivor Video From 1987 Japan Concert

Postby Slander » Tue Jan 22, 2008 9:32 am

Hey Guys,

Sorry if this is a repost but there's new stuff on youtube. Check it out. It's from a 1987 concert in Japan. Most songs from the concert are on there. Damn what could have been.

Andrew,

Any idea what this was taken from. DVD or Video? It's great stuff. Did you check out the other videos besides CITG? Damn great stuff. Wish we could turn back the clock and the bad feelings. It was magic. These guys should have been bigger.

Indeed...classic in every way.

I believe that's just another one of the many Japanese exclusive TV specials that ran through the 70s, 80s and 90s...

I'm trying to get a hold of the guy who posted this on youtube. I'll let you know if I have any success. He also has some killer Robert Palmer stuff from the same production company on his youtube channel. Damn Robert Palmer was the man. Power Station may have been the best album of the 80's. Andy Taylor-Tony Thompson need I go on!

That Taylor riff on Get In On absolutely positively flat out stone cold SMOKES.

What a nasty little album Powerstation I is, now made all the better with the bonus tracks including "Someway, Somehow, Somewhere." 8)

I haven't checked out the link yet, but it might be a show that I've had on VHS for about 15 years now. I've been wanting to get my VHS copy transfered to DVD.

Power Station is/better say was great. The Bonus Track is great, the only one they recorded with Michael DesBarres. But they had no luck. Tony Thompson died, Robert Palmer died and bernard Edwards (Producer and Bass Player of the second Album) is also dead!

Red we don't see eye to eye much but I'm glad you share my opinion of Power Station. Damn not a weak song on record. Rocks start to finish. Do you like Palmers solo record out at the same time? Discipline Of Love etc. I know everyone is sick of Addicted To Love but that solo effort rocks too.

Its an ok show the 1985 laser disc show is better to be honest,I have a reasonable quality copy of the 1987 show,EOTT sounds awful the cymbo sound isnt right through it.The WSC tracks are cool though for sure.I would love to see this or the 1985 Tokyo show get a dvd release.
One more thing,on the 1985 show who is the guy who helps with the guitar intro at the start of I Cant Hold Back?
Andrew if you need a copy let me know it is about 7-10 quality wise.

Eyeof,

That's the show that I've been intending to send to you to try to slightly pay you back for the stuff you sent me. My copy is on VHS.
....................................................................................................................................................................................

I bought that VHS tape about 15 years ago from a man in Japan.
....................................................................................................................................................................................

I've had the Vital Signs show that aired on MTV for 20 years now, but mine is a second generation copy of a VHS tape that a friend of mine taped when it was aired on MTV, so the quality isn't the greatest.

That copy from MTV is quite sought after as it includes I See You In Everyone complete with Frankies solo, this was excluded from the official Japanese laser disc release, and in my opinion is quite stunning for the guitar work from Frankie.

Yeah, the MTV version that I have does have ISYIE with Frankie's full solo. But it doesn't have I'm Not That Man Anymore, and I think maybe Poor Man's Son? Years ago I found a store that said they could order a copy of that show on VHS for me, but they said it was going to cost over a hundred dollars.

Does anyone have a good sounding/looking copy of Survivor doing "How Much Love" on Solid Gold, or them doing "Eye Of the Tiger" or "I Can't Hold Back" on Solid Gold?

Also, does anyone on here have the video for Survivor's "The Moment Of Truth?"
