I don´t have problem with two or even three ballads on album but half seems bit too much. But on the other hand many have criticized Journey´s “Trial by fire” too ballad heavy but I liked that album so there is good possibility that I will like this one too. As for Frankie´s vocals if his voice fits the song then I don´t care if he is not as good as Jimi.

Words from the wise! When I first heard TBF I was shellshocked. Where is the rock? However, after some time I changed my opinion. I think its just a excellent album by matured individuals, who rock when they needed to and mellow out when necessary as well. That said, TBF overall seemed more mid-tempo and that's fine with me. Im getting the same vibe with REACH. Can't wait!

That's true, the 2 are synonomous at this point. FMS is perfect, too.
If that and either The Place In Your Heart or Faith In The Heartland from Journey make it in, I'm a happy guy..

I was watching R IV the other day and Burning Heart just galvanized the last 3rd of the movie...great collaboration of Sly and the band.

I hope they release more of those demos in the future, some of them are better than the ones that have been released. The cd is awsome, of course I would've traded one song for "the love we never made" which happens to be my favorite song of all time besides "seconds away" and "FMS". What demos would you like to hear in the future redone, whether it be a JJ solo demo like "rythem of your heart" or a Bickler demo redone?

Well like I said, this is a review copy sent to the website I write reviews for, that's the only reason I have it now.

Point taken. I just think that this particular store should make more of an effort to order things for it customers, because now I won't call them when it comes out I will order it on-line.

I'd love them to clear up the question of US release for those of us stateside...maybe after the European tour? Though I appreciate what Frontiers does for our favorite groups, I'd hate to have to fork out that import price. Radio has abandoned the good bands so much that sometimes now they don't even release records here.

Another way America is goig downhill..... Survivor is an AMERICAN band... Why can't they release the cd in America first? you'd tihnk it'd be better. I went to my local FYE music store and they told me it'd be released late April, Early May.. They didnt give me a simple date. I understand that "Frontiers" is NOT American based, but come on guys. This is also why the band is losing out on a lot people. People are going to the net to get the CD cheaper. (i may have to do this as well)

The reason I believe Survivor isn't as big as they should be is because of publicity though. I mean, I know the band is limited, but can't they at least make a guest appereance on a late night show or at least a 30 sec commercial on tv? Despite all of this, Survivor is still the best band in my book. What do you think about the American release thing and the reasons why Survivor isn't better known than only for songs like "Eye of the tger" ?

I think the long gap between previous album and this new release is big factor why they are not as popular as they should be. I think there is a lot of people that assume Survivor broke up in late eighties and never came back.

Thanks for pointing that out, that could be a big factor of it. I've talked to a lot of people who thought they were broken up.

Ive listened to "downloaded" version (any diff. to the actual CD I really don't know atleast not entirely certain). It took me several listens to grasp what we've been given. In short, Im growing to it. Since its been YEARS and now without JP, I am happy to say that I think I can accept this format of Survivor. The song selection balances well, IMO. I also think having FS on the vocals gives the album an added dimension to it.

I will stop short to say that blown away by the music but Nevertheless  , its pretty good and Growing!

Lastly, I'll say it "fairly" a commercial effort and if the radio could allow them to play the stuff, it should do better than expected. If radio doesn't embrace, it will be unfortunate. I hope people give it a chance to grow and not to expect what they want, but allow themselves to listen to what is given.

I'll give the album and 8 or so (after 6 listens) I paid attention to the song selection and it works! If I mix it around it doesn't as much. Interesting eh? My second listen it when to a low of 6, but as I grasp it further it ripened. :P

Just a reminder to those who get this album off of the black marcket, please buy the official version. I know it's been years and that it is going to be such a chart topping album, but remember if we want Survivor to make a huge comback they need our support. best way, dont get it via bootleg. If people get the album via bootleg it's not going to help our chances of future albums anytime soon. Plus its the LAW. :p

Yes, Sheryl. picked up on it, too. Could that be the domestic US release Mr Sullivan speaks of? Cuz I thought the Frontiers Euro-release was a done deal for April 21.

if so, I'm greatly relieved some US label had the guts and sense to pick this record up.

I just read FS's comment Reach found "another home". Hmmm. Does that mean its been moved to another home or also found in another home? And that May thing. Perhaps there is a change for the new record.

Meanwhile, Im into my 20th listen. This time played the paces on the dvd player. Compared to my mp3 player, its sound MUCH better. Prompting me to give a 9 to the album (previous 8). There's more sounds to pick up. I love it!

At the same time, if I remove Reach, the album sounds more balanced, while replacing Reach as the first track to Don't give up. I like EVEN better (9.5). I can't give it a 10 as I would have liked one more rocker, to accompany Gimme the Word. I have no qualms about the slower tracks. They really add to the record as a whole.

Later,

Hey!

I was trying to see if there were any Survivor interviews seeing how it is so close to release time. Here is the first interview!! I managed to translate some of the interview seeing as it's in French... If anyone here is french maybe you can translate better.

http://fets5.freetranslation.com/?seque ... d=x6ufr0ew

Also, check out the interview with FS in the new Melodic Rock Fanzine.
You can download a copy here
ftp://frontiersguest:guestpw@ftp.frontiers.it/MRF13.pdf

seems from FS's interview "nevertheless" is a Japenese bonus Track? If thats the case I wonder what replaced it on official CD...

Tell me all what you think? Are you Pumped!!??

Amazon.com says April 25. Probably they directly get them from Frontiers.
