Singer change?

Well you know the more I think about it...I say good....I mean, this band needs something to kick it in the tale...I went to see Journey last week and despite the fact they were on their third or fourth singer and the drummer sang three of the biggest hits, they ROCKED. There was so much energy and power. The place was packed, jammed with people and full of energy. Yes, they were with Def Leppard, but I saw DL at the same venue two years ago and it was half empty. At any rate the concert was charged and JSS gave a great performance. It made me so envious to know that I'll probably never get to see Survivor in that type of setting again.

Last year I saw Survivor and they were playing in the street for free and myself, some older lady and a homeless guy that wondered up were pretty much the audience. JJ's vocals were awful and they seemed like a traveling joke. I don't say that lightly....I love Survivor, but the truth is the truth and if this new guy can inject any life into the band, then good. I'd love to have Dave back as well, but we need some life here. JJ was a great singer in his day, but as I said, he was terrible on the high notes when I saw them last. He even made little comments, such as when the song was over about how hard 'that sucker' (The Search is Over) is to sing....

Of course none of that fixes Frankie's ego or his 45 min. of useless guitar solos that literaly ruin the shows these days.

I do hope brighter days are ahead.

I think I feel the same way as you Eyeof. I mean, I would hope they gave Dave a call and he said, no way, so Robin was their second choice. I'm sure that wasn't the case but hoping it was. I am curious how this lineup with go. If they play the older tunes that really rock, I'd like to hear them.

Well, I am glad to see that someone agrees with me about JJ's voice. Everyone on this board seems to think he's a water walker and he may be but that doesn't change the fact that he just can't hit the notes anymore. Even Marc's comments about doing the same set for years was getting old for them and now they can give the fans more, leads me to believe that JJ was holding them back as a band. I think JJ is probably comfortable singing the songs of yesterday and likes the safety of not challenging his voice. He knows his limits these days and it won't be long before everyone else does too.

After the way they (Frankie) treated Dave Bickler last time, I'm glad that he's not with them. I love Dave and his voice. Beside, he's singing commercial jingles now, and that pays a LOT better than a travelling band. I should know, that's the reason I got off the road and started doing commercials myself.

You could feel a change coming after reading both interviews on MelocicRock.Com ... Frankie talked about Robin with a lot more spirit than usual, and spoke of Jimi as "a good friend". Kinda like a breakup, they always say that they are "friends" afterwards... more often than not, they usually can't stand each other.

I hope Jimi pulls his stunt again and tours as Survivor (again) and pisses Frankie off... this will remind Frankie that he should have left well enough alone, and kept (the better singer) Bickler after all.

My 2 cents.
