I think it is a little late for that.

But JoePA is right, the fact that Survivor has not said anything and shows no signs of 'campaigning' for inclusion leads me to believe they are already "out".

I think people should focus on the album in 2007. I also think people need to quit saying they've seen Rocky Balboa. It's a little rediculous.

I am beginning to believe that Survivor is going to just fade away. FS doesn't seem to care about promoting the band. He posted a note on the website some time ago that signing with Irving Azoff was a dream come true. Then when Robin joined the band, Great things was suppose to happen. I am still waiting. However, your rarely hear about Survivor any more. I do not believe that they will be a part of the soundtrack. Sly is not in the business to blow life into a dying bands career. He probably wants "marketable" bands on his soundtrack. Survivor rarely plays shows and their last album sold what, 3 copies? How many albums can you make re-recording the same songs, oh, and with a different singer. Robin is way to good for this band and should run quickly before they bring him down. He has too much energy and personality to share the stage with FS and boys.

I say otherwise, the band is doing better than they have in a long while. Reach sold a great number of copies. Robin is a fresh start to the band and the guys really love performing in front of a crowd in which recent concerts reported growing attendances. Seeing as Robin has brought fans of MSG and his other projects to the Survivor experience.

Robin gives the band a chance to play more songs live bringing more people to the shows and not to mention because of his "heavy metal" singing style the band is going to rock even harder than *REACH* bringing the metal people to the band and from what I hear he does a kick @$$ job w/ the new studio tracks. I for one say that if Survivor isn't in the Rocky movie then oh well, I'm just looking forward to the new 2007 album w/ the edgy voice of Robin.

Yeah, sure it right now doesn´t look very good for Survivor especially if they miss this Rocky opportunity. But hey, how many of us would have believed year ago that Journey would ever again be so succesful as they have been during this summer/autumn. And I don´t think Robin would have jumped to sinking ship, I think he has also smelled the chance of Survivor benefiting from Journey´s success.

yeah, the only reason I believe that Survivor hasn't got such noteriaty as Journey is:

Journey has been around longer
Journey has a bigge fanbase because of this
Journey has more marketing and promotion
did I mention they have been around longer?

of course, one could probobly say the same about Toto...
I still think Survivor is long from "washed up 80's band" because they still rock as hard as they did in '82

How long has Robin been with the band now, 6 months? And you think something great should have happened in that time?? Think about this: it is likely the JJ thing was a problem for a while, Azoff could have actually been integral in "handling" JJ and getting Robin. Maybe that was step one to "great things". Now that the band and management have "something to work with" they take it to step two...recording. Which Robin has already said is happening.

I think of Reach as a "rebuilding year".

I remember Survivor being referred to as the "poor man's Journey".

I cannot necessarily agree with the "marketing and promotion" part of your scenario, but I do think the fact that Journey had been on the road for 5 years before Infinity started their fame, then another 4 years touring before Escape blew up means a lot. And the fact that Journey returned to heavy touring in 1998 helped regain their status. It has been a long hard (too hard for Steve sadly) road to get Journey back to where they are now. Survivor has a similar issue with a new vocalist replacing a trademark vocalist. Since they are on Azoff MGMT now you might expect a similar game plan of touring a LOT! They will have to start very small and/or package right. And they will have to win over their fans because Robin is different than JJ...a lot. At least Steve was similar to PErry. I do not expect to ever see Survivor touring as "An Evening With..." but I do think they cna regain a good base with Robin out there. If the chemistry shows, and they stand behind new music, they can regain a following. But it is going to take YEARS.
