Who is fired up? I'm the one who isn't complaining!I like the band and appreciate their efforts and outside projects. I'll just leaving the bitching to you folks while I enjoy great music like Mecca 2.

Slander, why are you posting double times (or triple times)?

Probly b/c EyeOf had him fired up...

His Baghdad Bob retort didn't appear quick enough so hit post 2 more times.

Yeah Red Eye had me so fired up! That's why I waited 2 days to reply to his post. I have a nice life outside the bulletin board! It's called the weekend. Red do us a favor: Get outside, get some fresh air, put on your i-pod and listen to Vital Signs!

Since my post count, racked up since 2005 has (again) opened me up to ridicule on this forum I hereby serve notice that I will strongly consider a cessation of posting in this forum.

Said self-imposed exile would be binding until the promised new Survivor album is released in the USA.

To my detractors here who've mocked my post count in lieu of anything actually substantive in refuting my views on the band, this should come as welcome news since Survivor albums, though frequently promised are about as frequent as Haley's Comet appearances.

To my good friends here who enjoy my postings (and you all know who you are), this may be less pleasant but may be necessary in order for me to neuter the juvenile and desparate "ha ha, your post count's high you have no life" road of discourse.

I'll come to a determination soon.

Gimme A Break. I have a target on my back every time I come on this board. You or someone else wants to call me names or accuse me of being a Frankie Sullivan shill. Let's be honest the only people who seem to be able to express their opinions on this board without redicule are people who want to be critical of FS! It gets old. I have reached out time and time again. I've pleaded to keep it positive. It doesn't work. Don't give me this you've been rediculed nonsense Red. I'm rediculed every time I post anything on this board even if it is constructive.

I was considering a private post....but, I believe in what I am saying....so here it goes...

I DO NOT wish that Red stops posting....he is as vital here as anybody....he stirs up the pot, so what?? He hardly ever agrees with me, again....so what?? This is a PUBLIC board so there with always be differing opinions....Slander has his views Eyeof has his....and so does AxeCrew....have they gone at me?? Sure...but this is a big boys game the music business, and people will have their opinions....I take it all with the spirit it is intended to...could I post stuff on here that would blow the doors off the place, sure....but I won't....I respect all who post here and the people we "discuss" and don't want to see anybody leave...even if they have as many posts as days it's been below 30 here in Chicago this winter!! burrrr....

Keep up the discourse....and don't worry, you opinions are getting to those who don't personally post here.....

Red, this was nothing against you or your no. of posts. I was kidding about Slanders double or triple posts. I hope he understood that. I always enjoyed your comments (as long as I understood them, but that's another story). So please make your comments as before. And, in case you felt insulted by my post, sorry for that, wasn't meant in that way.

Yes they played in Texas right after Red made his comments about the band being dead. In fact they have added a few more dates on pollstar.com. I suspect they will add more summer dates as the year goes on.

Dude, give us a break.

That was their quarterly show.

The Priest is still reaching for his copy of The Last Rites.

Update:
I see they're playing Hershey, PA this summer (of course had to go Pollstar to find the date as it's not on that cutting edge, up-to-the-minute internet site the band has)...
2 hours drive, I might make that one.

Red you are a hoot. I will give you that. By the way they are good live. You may not like Robin's voice. But one thing is indisuputable: He is by far the morst energetic front man they have had. That is not up for debate. The man is not a friggin statue. Clearly Robin is in shape unlike some.

Sorry Eye. There is no real debate on this issue. While you may not like Robin's voice, his showmanship kicks Dave's and JJ's butt! Listen I love Dave. He is the true Survivor sound to me and always will be.

I GUESS this is a shot at Jamison.
FS is the "fitness guru," McDubrow is the most energetic frontman they've had.

So Jamison smokes, drinks, has a beer belly and sounds like Survivor when he sings.

Meanwile when Survivor plays the frontman can enact shadowboxing, run on a treadmill, do yoga, pilates, jumping jacks and play pickup basketball on stage and tell people to "get on yer feet!" and they STILL sound like Quiet Riot.

Slander do you even hear yourself...I'm sorry, but being able to imitate Joe Elliot and Vince Neil is a skill most 16 year old's mastered in the 80's...however, just like McDubrow, most of us never quite mastered the singing part...

Sorry it's just not up for debate...McSurvivor sounds like S$*$...i frankly - no pun intended - dont' care what they look like...

Eye I have said it repeatedly: I prefer Dave on Vocals. Robin however is more than up to the task. He also gives them an edge Jamo can't! It's an actual rock band with a rock n'roll singer. Yes I know Eye you don't give a damn about Survivor what they look like blah blah blah. What me and others can't understand is why you and Red waste your time posting about band you clearly hate. Seems like a waste of time to me.

Jamison was just a much a rock singer as Bickler in Survivor. True, neither guy's metal, like we have now, but...

To the other point, I LOVE the band, I just want MORE for them and us than what it's been turned into.

And as for us hating the band and posting, Jamison, who you hate (que the "Hey. I like Jamo. he's a hell of a pop singer and a decent guy and good bartender. I just like my survivor with a 'vibe.'" reply) sure appears in your posts a lot.

I think i can be a fan of the band etc...of course read the top Slander...it says Survivor/Pride of Lions/Jimi Jamison Band/

Not Frankie Sullivan...I've heard you make fun of Pride of Lions and the Jimi Jamison band...tell me, is that less of a waste of time..

Yes, I think McSurvivor sounds awful and I'm far from alone in thinking that...

I think that JJ with JP sounds really good...I have as much right to say so, as you do to worship at the alter of Frankism and his house of lies...

Then you've heard wrong Mr. Eye. I own all three POL albums and enjoy them. Tall Ships is one of my favorite songs of 2007. I have said that I think Toby can sound a little too 'BROADWAY' for my taste and that he doesn't sound right singing Tiger but I have never name called or said POL's sounds like **** like you. It's good stuff. I also bought Mecca 1 because of Peterik so get your facts straight. I bought JLT's Sunstorm because I knew JP wrote songs on it. As far as Jamo, he is a nice guy and a great singer, I just don't think he walks on water. The night I saw his band they were not very good. I think it was because they hadn't worked together much.

Do me a favor: don't put me in the same category with yourself and RED when it comes to attacking and name calling. I'm here on the board to keep it positive. I'm not in the destruction business.

You love the band? Then try to take an interest in what they are doing. Or is it you loved the old band and resent everything new? JJ is a nice guy and was a great vocalist. You never here me attack him by name calling. Yes I will say that Robin is a better showman than JJ. What's wrong with that? I will say it again: I'm not in the destruction business. FS and the band deserve our support. It is to his credit that we are still talking about them 30 years after their birth.

You said 'hate the band', nothing about 'attacking and name calling'.
You can be every bit as critical, you just do it in a different manner. Just because you don't 'attack or name call' does not mean you are not being critical. Just because Red and Eye might name call does not mean they are being any more or less critical.
I wish you all would quit worrying about semantics.

Love of a band gives you the perspective to take interest in what the band IS and IS NOT doing. Red certainly tends to point out what the band is NOT doing....but I am certain it comes from his love of the band and what he would LIKE to see them acheive or accomplish or even attempt.

Slander wrote: JJ is a nice guy and was a great vocalist. You never here me attack him by name calling. Yes I will say that Robin is a better showman than JJ. What's wrong with that?

Who cares if YOU never do that? It is still semantics. It is not up to you how others support or critique the band.

Slander wrote: I will say it again: I'm not in the destruction business.

Good for YOU, quit trying to dictate to everyone else!

Slander wrote:FS and the band deserve our support. It is to his credit that we are still talking about them 30 years after their birth.

And people show their support or devotion to bands in different ways. Yours is no more right than others.
Sorry, but you can still talk about ELVIS and he is most certainly dead. Some can say Survivor is close to same. But you have actually made Red's point that he does love the band since he IS still talking about them even though they do so little for so long.

Jrny I couldn't dsiagree with you more on this. Words are powerful. Words are weapons. Isn't life about semantics? Isn't it about discourse? Isn't about how we treat each other? Isn't there away to discuss issues without getting in the gutter? I never said I wasn't critical, but you will never hear me call JP or JJ names. It isn't going to happen. Some of the criticism of FS is down right vile. I was watching the apprentice the other night and I'm beginning to think Red is OMAROSA!
