I don't think there was too much JP - they just showed him on a few guitar solos, etc. More shots of Jimi and less of the "picture screen" would have been welcome though.

They could've used more footage from the World Stage show at HOB (which was towards the end of the video) to include Bichler, Barnes, and Thomas.

Yeah that would have been nice - at least to just see Mickey's face or something. He really shines in this song.

I agree with you about the song and the video. As far as the actual video, I don't know why they didn't film the World Stage show they did at the HOB recently. Some of the video clips towards the end are from there. They had everyone there but JLT and Reno I believe. They could've at least shown Bichler, Barnes, Thomas, Peterik, and Jamison singing. It's too weird to show just JP singing (excluding Jamo as it is his song) as he wasn't a singer of an 80's band.

I thought that was JP's wife in the video. But, it was weird seeing Jamison act like she was with him. Maybe they're all swingers. Just kidding.

Frontiers may have f-d up. Although a cool concept for a song, this may be the wrong song to roll out first for the new album. Maybe do this one last if anything.

Yes!!! And it is JAMO'S ALBUM....get off the I wanna be the singer in a rock n roll band express just for a moment!! Let Jamo carry the tune.....Jesus....and ya got DAVE F'N Bickler in there for like 3 seconds.....HELLO????.........I just got off the phone with a friend and oh my god, he was dying.....this was a $50 video, and for the return of Dave Bickler (if even for just a line or two) and the return of Jamo as a solo artist they deserved MORE!!! Sell one of the hundred guitars in the video and make a proper one deserving of Jamo and Bickler together.....that pisses me off.....I have waited a long time to see those two together....granted I am or better said was close to that situation, but I am still a Survivor fan.....it's time I tell Frankie to save everybody from this madness and put the fucking wrecking crew back together hahahaahaa......

I think realistically a strong Survivor reunion is unlikely. Maybe one tune but that'll be it. Don't get me wrong but I really cannot see JP working with FS for any longer term project.

JP is all over this thing...not sure what the hell he's wearing and doing his best Eddie Van Halen/We are the World imatation...my point is how in the world with there have been room for Frankie? Do i make sense?

This is a very good observation. My view is that JP has a lot of himself invested in this Jamo record and he'll want to be "seen" often. Whether that means he can be a "team" with Frankie some day again begs the question.

I've been saying for a number of years now that if survivor were to have both Jamison and Bickler on lead vocals at each show it would save a lot of wear-and-tear on both singers voices, and it would allow them to play more like 15 songs a night as opposed to the 9 or 10 a night that they seem to play now.

I have nothing against Robin McCauley, he's a great singer in his own right, and does not get as much credit as he deserves. But Having Jamison or Bickler (or both) back in the band would no doubt give them a better chance of hooking-up with a band like Journey on a huge national or even world tour.

They would be good in a third slot (Cheap Trick role) on a national tour i.e. Journey tour.

Well, it depends. I hope they don't actually hate each other. If they do, you're right. If they just had "creative differences" then there's a chance. How big a chance though?

I agree on McCauley. I loved MSG. If a Survivor reunion took place, hopefully he could land the Quiet Riot gig. I heard Cum on Feel The Noise on radio and the other day and I could see McCauley singing that no problem.

A few points -

Jim wrote all the songs, played on it, produced it. Why shouldn't he appear in the video?

No, this ain't the best song on the album, but it's a bit of fun towards the end of the album.

And lastly - no one wants to work with Frankie, so no amount of talking to him will get Survivr back together. Believe me, I have talked to EVERYONE about this as I'd love to see a one-off at least. But no go.

I think McAuley has been 'capable' on his version of TSIO, but I challenge anyone to catch Bickler's version (espeically the ending) of Search from the 1993 LaGrange version and then tell me that's not the best version of the song EVER.

I knew this would happen. Why do we have to start the FS bashing? Why do we have to break things into camps? Why can't we objectively look at the JP and JJ project without walking on egg shells!

When Rock Was King video

Postby Cheryl » Sun Nov 02, 2008 7:39 am

Well, here's my .02 worth on it. I believe the video was done in the cheapest format possible for the sake of $....all labels, including Frontier's do not have the $ to fork out for the video's like they did in the old days, and why bother, MTV, VH1, CMT,almost all of them never play videos', it's all tv reality show bullsh8t.

I think JP's voice ruined the song. He can write til the cows come home and I personally think this would be my least favorite song that I've heard so far, as I feel the production on it wasn't up to par...you couldn't understand half of what was being said, had I not been looking at the 'pictures' of the singer's, I wouldn't have had a clue...

I would have liked to seen Bobby/Toto, Mickey/Starship and especially a bit more 'real video' then the picture montage's...Mike Reno and Mickey,Bobby, all them are good friends and they would have done whatever it took to help Jimi, they are like brothers....

I thought Jimi looked good in the video but at the end, walking out with Jim's wife and getting in a....cough, hack....pt cruiser? could they not have rented a limo for an hour? I mean how long would it take to shoot that scene? beautiful house JP has and he's worked his a88 off writing hit songs, I just think he should write rather than sing...just my opinion but I don't think he's that great of a singer.

I think the concept for the song was good but I've never been a fan of singer's pretending to be actors, would have much perferred to hear this done 'live'....minus Jim Peterik's voice all over it. I also think that the crowd scene was a little 'empty' looking, I am sure there were more people there then what it looked like but when I think of crowds, go watch Totos "Live in Amersterdam" or Goo 'Goo Dolls "Live in Buffalo"....that's a concert...

I also wonder how smart it is to post a video on youtube with every song on the cd before it's released....I could see clips done for each one, but not the whole songs, I think this will hurt sales....

off my soapbox....next.....

Peace~
Cheryl
