Andrew first and foremost I hope you are well. Secondly did this "unhappy camper" come to you or did someone tell you this "unhappy camper" was indeed unhappy?

They came to me directly for a change. That was nice...no reply to my reply though. No surprise there.

who cares if he isn't happy...what's he going to do? Refuse to play one of his six shows this year at your local county fair?

Made me go back and read the interview two more times...

First of all, and Andrew I'm sure will agree with this, a bulletin board of gossip and innuendo is not REAL journalism RED. Let's make a deal: I won't pretend to be an expert in your line of work and you quit pretending to be Rona Barret. Secondly, at the appropriate time I'm sure Andrew will give FS and Robin a chance to talk about Survivor. At which time I'm sure FS WON'T CLAIM to be the REAL THIS OR REAL THAT. FS is a modest, private person, takes the high road and doesn't air his stuff out in public. He had nothing negative to say about anyone when Andrew interviewed him in 2006 or when I sat down with him in 2002.

"They're really seeing what Jimi can do—what really is Survivor—what was the magic behind Survivor. Of course, Survivor is Survivor and there'll never be another Survivor but I think, on this record, we've captured a lot of the essence of what people really loved about Survivor."-JP

JP who I respect and have said that over and over is a little too presumptuous for me in the above quote. What some of us really loved about Survivor was the GUITAR, Dave B's vocals, and JP's song writing talents. Some of us don't want to be spoken for.

Highlit the 2 points I want to remark upon:
1) Unless I am mistaken, Andrew's phone, address and email address, published on the front page, are always open and working so Franky can contact AJM at will should he wish to comment.

2) Your continuing axe-to-grind against Peterik and most of all Jamison is illustrated again in the last paragraph and spare us the "hey! I love JP! He cranks out product!" and "I think JJ has a decent voice and is an OK guy" junk and just admit you can't stand either of them because the continual passive/agressivity is laughable.

Ax to grind my ass. I buy his records anytime he puts one out or associates himself with another artist because I like his music. From everything I hear he sounds like he is an awesome guy It doesn't mean I have to kiss up to him like the rest of you on this bulletin board.

For me personally, no one member or two members were/are Survivor.

Frankie's guitar playing, Jim's songwriting, Jimi and Dave's singing, Marc's drumming and Stephan's bass playing were/are all vitally (no pun intended) important to what made/makes Survivor great.

A Question For All Of You

Postby Journey/Survivor » Thu Feb 12, 2009 9:59 am

A question for all of you guys...

Foreigner are down to only Mick Jones as an original or truly long-term member of the band. Should the band still be called Foreigner?

What if Lou Gramm were to form a band with several of the original members of the band? Would that change anything?

I'm NOT making any kind of point or taking sides in any arguments. I'm just curious how everybody views that situation?

Yeah and this quote from JP is so modest:

"They're really seeing what Jimi can do—what really is Survivor—what was the magic behind Survivor. Of course, Survivor is Survivor and there'll never be another Survivor but I think, on this record, we've captured a lot of the essence of what people really loved about Survivor."-JP

Sorry not so modest. I don't think you will ever see FS take credit FOR THE MAGIC! Maybe others have to beat their chest. Myself and other fans find this quote most unfortunate. I doubt you would ever see such a statement from FS.

If he's bragging about anyone there, it's not himself - it's Jimi. Cut the guy a break, he's enthused about their work together (and rightfully so). I'm with Bill (J/S), no need to take sides. I just rocked out to CITG AND VS on my 2 hour drive this afternoon (I particularly enjoyed your namesake today, Slander). Love 'em both, as distinctive as both of those discs are from each other.

Honestly, I'd support both bands. Kelly Hansen kicks ass and Lou is a specimen to be out there singing and traveling after all the shit he's been through. I judge by the music, not by my perceptions of what the guys in the band are like (how am I to really know anyway?)

There's a huge dispute between "The Little River Band" and three founding members and key players (ie vocalists/songwriters), Birtles/Shorrock/Goeble. The founders sold their rights to the name to the current lead guitarist and bass player/vocalist for the group using the official name now. Those two have both been in the band for a LONG time. At any rate, there's a fan divide between the two factions. The truth is, both bands are still outstanding live and I will support them both as long as they keep making/performing good music.

Wow....when there is fighting there sure is a bunch of activity here....and it is always the same arguement...everytime....I can go back 2 years and it will be the same stuff....

I don't care who takes credit for the magic....or whatever people on here call it....I don't care who takes credit for the Survivor sound....or whatever you guys call it...

Survivor of old IS and will always be FS and JP...they always had a talented throat to use as a voice for THEIR melodies and THEIR music, and they had and still have amazing players complimenting them (even though MD to me is a MAIN cog in the wheel and lays down a unique and STRONG groove, in other words a VITAL part of the band)...but FS was the main producer through the years, and JP was a driving force within the seeds of the songwriting as I am sure he was always bringing in ideas...he always has them, and WITH FS as his co-writer and collaborater they created hit after hit....with JJ or DB, it didn't matter (no disrespect), insert any other monster singer from the 80's (Gramm, Perry, Richard Page, Joseph Williams, Fergie Frederiksen ect.) and those songs were HITS....TOGETHER they made their millions, created their hits...they were both a leg on the same hit machine.....both UBER talented, and wow, lookie, the two of them NEVER dis each other, but the people on here do....guess what guys, IF JP wrote all the tunes HE WOULD SAY SO...and visa versa...they collaborated....and any on here who are songwriters get it....I wrote with them both, which makes me a rarity, but I understand both their strengths and weaknesses ( sorry, not many weaknesses with EITHER of them), and trust me....it was an equal road of creativity and songwriting prowess, it just shined in different ways....

JP respects FS as a songwriter and a musician, I can tell you FIRST HAND....and gives him his props....and FS does the same, again I can tell you FIRST HAND....I just wish the people on here would be positive twords this band, so when the new album is done they can be open and willing to again enjoy the band Survivor....

People acuse me of hating JP.....just the opposite....I will always LOVE the man for what he has done for me and the many many years of councel, mentoring and friendship....he and Karen got me through some really bad years.....I want only the best for him, personally and professionally....World Stage and Mecca was a great time, and also an amazing and a great bunch of guys, and I miss that too....but people grow, thats all it is....and for the record, FS never bashes him either and we talk alot....there is NO jealousy between the two of them, they both have EXACTLY what they want right now.....

And I am happy for both of them....for their successes, and their work....

Now if somebody can pick apart my post and start an arguement go ahead.....but I love both guys as family and I really hate to see people bash either of them.....

Man, I hope this puts a nail in it....

A tired JV......

well JV...i can pick it apart...third graph, seventh line...you misspelled SUPER...i dare you...

Maybe we can all argue about this for a couple of days!

Sad thing is JV and everyone is that when there is no arguing...there is NOTHING!

I don't know what is worse! Honestly if there was no Slander saying crazy things half the time, I don't think there would have been five post on here in the past two months!

Foreigner is and always was Mick's band. Even though he owes much of his success to Lou. Much like Journey, If it were only Neal it could still be called Journey. It is, after all, a band built around him. The question is would it make sense? Mick is experiencing success as Foreigner still. And themusicians he has hired are doing justince to the catalog. Kelly is winning people over with his performance. But if he sucked, I would imagine the consensus would be that Mick should NOT be continuing as Foreigner without Lou.
