You mean a high tessitura...correct??

if I understand the definition of the term, yes. Other songs might have higher notes, but it sounds to me that one was written higher. Your thoughts?

Many of the songs of that era of Survivor were written with a very high tessitura....or better said, that the consistant pitch of the song was very high...

JP and FS wrote VERY high melodies that SOMEONE ELSE had to acheive and preform.....it was a death sentence to the vocal chords of DB...and with JJ they had to tune down a bit...and rightfully so...

Dave deserved hazard pay for his time with this band singing those high melodies...

To do these songs in the studio when you are not singing 20 tunes that night is ok...but night after night....VERRRRY difficult...it shreds your throat....

Why the Tiger album was written with that high tessitura is beyond me. Bickler is straining on the album, which is the kiss of death when it comes to performing those songs live. There is a very noticeable change in his vocal tone from Tiger to CITG. The little I've heard of Dave in good voice (the '93 era), he seemed to be a very good singer live. Stage presence of a brick, but vocally he was pretty dead on.

speaking thereof, I wonder how many songs were on the average setlist on the Tiger tour. I'd presume they had their share of headline dates after the success of the title track, right? That means something around a 90min setlist--or 15+ songs, right??? Amazing that there are no bootlegs floating around pre-84.

Well, 9/17 in Tennessee looks like the last date to see Survivor. It's been a great run, stop, run, stop, stop, stop, stop, walk, stop.

Thanks for the memories!

Jaxmanjoe signing off after 30 years of listening. I've had enough of the sounds of silence and I'm finding better ways of wasting my time.

Sorry. The tribe has spoken.

Wow sorry to see you go jaxmanjoe. Understand though. The silence is deafening and the loyal fans deserve better.
