Most of me is really excited at this news, but the sensible 4% of my brain is asking, 'What's changed?' Still, let it be good news for now and hopefully history won't repeat itself. Again.

I am very happy that Jamo has returned. ! Jamo has reclaimed his vocals and is a very big international star now. This must hold a lot of weight now. Kimball Jamison is selling well is the number one selling cd on NEH Records website. Restless Kind & Tears In My Eyes have been big hits in Germany. Manny fights and singing on paperview in front of millions of people . Crossroads Moment being a big hit a few years back. Endless touring and really making a big name for himself again !

Frankie must have made a lot of the wrong things right. Now lets get a Survivor cd done and make it happen for real this time ! Jamison's body of work over these past few years have been loud and proud. !

They need to do an Extended Versions Cd of a live concert ! Put all the hits on it just like Foreigner did and tour and tour and tour.

I'm not that big into all these reunions, guys coming and going, etc, but this one does make me happy. JJ is Survivor in my opinion; not a solo guy, or dueting with anyone. I've seen him with Survivor and he was awesome. I saw him at MRF2 and he was awesome. Now, I hope they tour (or at least play some fests in IL) and I will be there!!!!! Adding Peterik back to the mix would just make it that much sweeter.

There is an Extended Versions cd an edit of the Live In Japan 1985 show,it has since been released in its entirety in Japan on cd,and please not another compilation!!
You make some great points about Jamison's recent success.

Yep. Maybe (all conjecture here by me btw) because the recent court case is between JJ and his due vs FS. JP already agreed with FS how the thing works.

JP and his Lambro. FS and his Jamo :P

I wonder, why I do not get upset about this news. I hoped that something would happen in the SURVIVOR camp, but maybe I hoped a little more, that something outside the remaining SURVIVOR camp would happen. The idea of Jamison returning to the ridiculous leftovers of what was once a great band probably seemed so absurd, after he left the band twice and got sued by other members. REACH has been the weakest effort in their discography and there are no hints, that it will get better songwriting-wise without JP. Of course it is only speculation, but I guess the only reason is, that this is part of an overall settlement of the legal matters. It's hard to belive, that there is a reasonable basis for a cooperation of artists, after you took the time and read the MR-interview with JJ (http://www.melodicrock.com/interviews/j ... son07.html) again.

So, I am not enthusiastic at all. Pobably they just try to do those nostalgia tours and make some bucks. Musically I would indeed have preferred something like a Bickler-Jamison-Peterik project.

Well, maybe the coming SURVIVOR Mark whatsoever surprise me with some good new songs...who knows?

The reason I'm not either excited or upset about this news is because I mostly don't care anymore. It doesn't matter who is in the lineup, there will be no new music and hardly any concerts (none near me).

And in two years, we'll be getting another press release about another departure and new vocalist.

What Frankie needs is someone who can write. I personally think that is part of the problem with no new music. Hopefully JP can come in produce and help right.

Reach was weak. A lot of that to me was production. Did Frankie produce? Frankie needs someone to put a fire under his butt. Frankie to me doesn't seem to be the leader type. But JJ really doesn't seem to be the leading type either. Bring JP back.

From the sounds of it, they are going to be touring and probably not focusing on new music...here we go again. I wonder what's going to happen to all the music that's been written so far. Are they destined to demo purgatory?

To be honest I doubt there was any real music written by Frankie.

Here is what Joe Vana said earlier in the thread when I asked him about his involvement:

Joe Vana wrote:Writing I am sure...hopefully some backgrounds....it is up to FS!!

Great news for the fans of this band.....they are really back!!

I understand you guys may not be familiar with Vana's Mecca albums, but the song writing is excellent. He has learned from the best (Jim Peterik himself) and I think if JV is helping out with the writing, then he understands what it takes to write a classic Survivor hit song. He is fully aware of the influence of Peterik, so he knows what it would take to make the new Survivor music be as good as something like Vital Signs. I don't think Jamison would have rejoined the band if the band had no intentions of writing new music.

Even if nothing new comes out of it, it's always encouraging to see bands get back together at this stage of the game. Gives you hope for some of the other long-wanted reunions.

Not a huge fan of the band...like a few songs, and definitely haven't been in the midst of all the ins and outs of band members, drama, and the flame wars over singers....etc....

but this, to me, sounds like nothing more than that aging baseball player that wants to retire with the first team he played for, and signs a one-day contract.....

Doesn't matter...it put him on the map. Which is the point. You think Pedro is going in the hall as a Dodger, or Expo, or Red Sock?

Sad to say it, but I think you might be on to something with the 'fulfilling a legal obligation' suggestion. I don't think I've heard Jamo say a single good word about Frankie since leaving the band, and very recently there was the dispute over royalties, the legal case, etc. Sounds like Jamo could be being forced into it legally or financially or both. Such a shame if that is the case, as it doesn't bode well for a re-invigorated band. I was still hoping for another Jamison/Peterik album - Crossroad Moments was excellent (IMO) and much more worthy than the name Survivor than Reach. I really hope this is by mutual agreement because they want to work together, and not because Jamison is being forced into it. It would be nice if he's able to keep his solo career going alongside Survivor too (including working with JP).

While I disagree with you on Crossroads Moments sounding like Survivor album, it is a solid effort. I do agree with you about this so called reunion. This sounds like both parties are less than enthusiastic. If you watch the JJ intereview on Youtube, it's not like he's ecstatic about the reunion, it's almost an afterthought. Andrew reports that FS said the following about the reunion "a solid move" and "a step in the right direction" to get Jimi back in the fold to hit the road and in Frankie's words "go out and play the hits"- Once again, not exactly warm and fuzzy! This smells of a business decision. I really hope I am wrong. I really do. I'm looking forward to Andrew's interview as well as press releases from both FS and JJ to shine further light on the move.

Pardon my joke but I think FS and JP decided to have reunion on tour and on stage THAN a "reunion" in court. If you know what I mean.
