Yep. Does not jive at all with what Frankie's been saying forever. Jamo's vox aren;t even laid down yet :?:
Yes, "spring" release but hopefully it will not be Europe only.

FIRST CLIP!!!

Postby survivorfan2005 » Tue Jan 24, 2006 11:39 am

Well fans, with much anticipation over the past few months of the newest survivor album I have some great news for you all and a suprise  . I recently recieved the following information from Jimi... check this out!

Official Name of New Album: Fire Makes Steel

Release date in the U.S : late Feb.- early April.

I have also heard clips of the new tracks on the CD, the song Give Me The Word litterally blew my mind away and reminded me of the ballad "Caught in The Game" (yes it is kinda slow an kinda upbeat)

The strong vocals from JJ on the Seconds Away demo from Dave Bickler was even better than the strong ballads such as "across the miles" and "I cant hold back".

The FMS song is fantasticly done which put all my worries to rest about JJ's vocals not being as strong as Bickler's. This song is sure to make it to the '06 top 10 list. The strong rock presence in the song is enough to rock the guys all night long and melodic enough to make the ladies beg for more.

One More Chance is a very harmonized balled going along the lines of "Tell Me i'm The one"..

And the last clip I recieved was the NEW Version of Eye of The Tiger...
you can judge it from here....
http://www.planethalflife.com/enduringf ... etclip.wav

Note: this clip's quality isn't that good seeing as it isn't fully mastered yet and this isn't the final version of the song, JJ told me that this was the first version that he did in the studio back in November and is unable to get me a clip of the final version.

Tell me what you think.

This sounds good to me SFan05....Caught In The Game and I Can't Hold Back Ballads? If the ballads on this one are like those I can't wait to hear the rockers.

I believe it is new material and the one re-recording of Eye Of The Tiger. Seems fitting that they finally re-record that song. The only hit with Dave Bickler, it has been sung by JJ for many years!

Somehow this sounds like a concert to me, I mean I thought I could hear fan/crowd noise?

Maybe the demo with studio chatter/bg noise.

Most of the noise is due to the background noise as you pointed out and the quality of it. Remember, this is only the first version he did back in Nov. and is not mastered as the final version is. As for what I said about caught in the game as a ballads, disregard that statement, lol. The song "Give me the word" is in fact as upbeat as Caught in the game and also a blend of "too hot to sleep".

All of the songs except 3 are NEW material (no demos, but new). The 3 that are not new (but new to some) is FMS, Seconds Away, and the new EOTT version. I must admit though from what i've heard the song Seconds Away will by all means be one of the best songs on the album. Of course, there are still others that I have no information what so ever on. If anyone wants a copy of the old seconds away just pm me.

Well, bring it on. I'm looking forward to this release as JJ is sounding stellar.
I could see the new EOTT being in Rocky Balboa as well as FMS. We're trying to Journey's new music onto the soundtrack, too.

Thanks for information, I updated the topic name. It´good to hear that we don´t need to wait very much longer for the new album. This is really great for me as Survivor, Toto and Asia are all releasing new albums within couple of months and all of which are on my Top 10 of bands. New version of Eye... sounds good although you can hear that this is not final version. It just a bit hard to get accustomed to thought someone else than Dave singing on record this song. But to end this message on positive note I say that piano sounds on this version even better than on original version.

That´s good to hear but remember there is so many possibilities of the last minute delays before it´s actually in shops so hold your horses. The wait has already been sooooo long that couple of extra months doesnt bother much. But as the case is this that the band has completed its part of the job you can be pretty sure that album comes out before summer.

I can not believe I have never seen this site before now, I have been checking melodic rock weekly to see the new release dates for Survivor. I never took the time to really dig into the site until last night.
I have been a fan since the first album came out.
I have had the pleasure of seeing them in concert several times over the last year +. And I've enjoyed every concert I've seen. They still really rock!!!!
Talk to you all later :D

It's different, but it's still very good. More like a 2006 version.
It would be great if they used this for Rocky VI.

Yeah, its different but there would be no point doing new version if they wouldn´t have tried to find some kind of new perspective to the song. I´m sure if good old Sylv hears this he will definitively use it in the film because the song is absolutely perfect for the spirit of boxing movie.

FS's note was a variation on the same thing he's been saying for about 3 years on this record. I'll take the McNiece approach and say I'll believe it when I have it in my hand walking out of the record store.

Love that clip, SFan05. Good work by you.

Listening to the clip, I noticed two things: There is an odd change-up right before the lyrics start. And Jami's voice is still hard to hear at the beginning of the chorus. I imagine the glitch in Jami's vocals will be fixed on disc, it could just be the "source". Maybe the change-up is also due to "the source".

Well another change of topic name and now we have release date which is april 21. So I guess now we can pretty safely say that the record is finally coming out. Let´s hope the material is worth of long wait.

Not for us US fans, and fuck if I'm forking over the import price. And what of the Elusive EOTT '06 being absent from the tracklist?

I like that name "Reach" for the album, must've changed it at the last minute, lol, and it is interesting to see 3 songs off of the old FMS album. I'm going to see what I can find out about the EOTT song not being listed.... I've got another soundclip for everyone it's a clip from the song "rythem of your heart" which is a good song. check it out and tell me what you think....

http://www.planethalflife.com/enduringfreedom/royh.mp3

Note: this version was completed Jan 14. 2006 and is not the best quality but it'll be better with the final one on the CD.

I'll keep everyone posted with some more clips when i get them.

(Cringe) Ooooooooo not a ballad. Hope that's the only one.
Jeez, Too Hot To Sleep has exactly 1 ballad. Hope they keep to that ratio.

"REACH" is a good title.

I agree, I hope they only do one full-on ballad. Keep to the mid-tempo and rockers!! It really is amazing how much lower JJ's voice is, yet still so recognizable. Very clear sounding on this clip!

And "Reach" is a very good title!!

8) for my understanding it is the only ballad on the CD. It will be in the stores here in the U.S April 28, that is if they stick with releasing it in europe first. (why not release it here first though? survivor is an American band right?) There is always alternatives however (ebay) where you can get the cd during the first week. Maybe they'll release it here first. Anyhow, is it just me or would you like to hear more fast paced songs like "first night" or some of the old cobra songs? Those are the kind of songs that make your head rock.

Dude, good news US drop on 4/28. I can live with that, long's they follow through.
I guess it being Survivor, you need at least 1 (no need for more, though) full on power ballad.

28, right on the noise. He's lower, more mature-sounding but still very much Jamo. That's an unmistakable voice.
